I’m sure BC fans will be slobbering all over the JJ deal…but, seriously…what’s with Chicago giving up on a 16th overall pick from two years ago, in order to acquire the 27-29th overall pick this coming draft?
Sure, the guy has spent his career in the DLeague. But, how can a near 2nd rounder in this year’s draft have more potential than Johnson — unless, of course, the Bulls see something they don’t like in him?
Any thoughts, Eric?
Have you ever even heard of this guy? I haven’t.
- brento. That was an ugly game that most Raptors fans wopuld like to forget. Too many turnovers early really buried the Raps.
I was happy to see them fight until somebody breathed on Wallace (but he has earned that reputation, unlike many of the star players in the league).
I love the game of Boris Diaw, and I really wish that trade had have gone down in the summer. That dude out-slows everyone and out-smarts them at the same time. (Not a knock on Calderon, but the aquisition of Chandler as well could have spelled out a different season).
I wonder what else the Bulls are going to do. I have to believe they have their eye on someone in order to give up Johnson for basically a shot in the dark in a weak draft. They must be clearing a roster spot for someone else, either a quality back-up for Rose or maybe another big. With Noah comiong back, this may just clear up some minutes/space on the roster.
- T.J.After Melo landed with the Knicks (along with a trusty sidekick), who was it saying the East is not being stacked???
The New Jersey Nets have acquired point guard Deron Williams from the Utah Jazz in a multi-team deal, according to several reports.
The Jazz are expected to recieve rookie power forward Derrick Favors and point guard Devin Harris along with some draft picks and $3-million in cash from the Nets.
- GaryRead where James Johnson has part Samoan heritage .
This could help create a buzz for the Raptors among the large Samoan population in Toronto and area.
- ChasJames Johnson was a stud in college. Do you even follow baskeball Brento, or just repeat the same argument about BC over and over in this blog.
- MikeNo, Mike. I don’t follow college basketball. I think we all have better things to do than to watch a bunch of 18 year olds run around the court, throwing the ball into the stands after the opposition stumbles over it’s own feet and turns the ball over.
At least, I do.
Oh, and by the way, I’m glad to hear he was a “stud in college.” The last I checked, US college stats don’t exactly mean much in the NBA.
Apparently, the Chicago Bulls didn’t exactly have much in the way of optimism for the guy, either. They traded him for a 27th overall pick, who very likely will never make the league.
Just sayin’.
Now, let me get back to the book I’m writing about the illustrious career of our stupendously attired General Manager…
- brento.Last I noticed Brento, the NBA is made up essentially of players who come from college. That’s the whole point of follwoing college basketball. As someone who grew up in the US, college basketball is a pretty big deal and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who doesn’t have better things to do than follow a bunch of 18 year olds running around the court.
And Chicago probably traded him for that pick to try and package in a deal for a SG, which they’re seeking. Plus, they have Deng is having a great year and Johnson is playing behind him and Taj Gibson. But of course you knew this. Or do you have better things to do than follow a bunch of NBA players running around the court?
- MikeHahaha, Mike :) Funny. No, I don’t have enough time to follow the Chicago Bulls’ 14th roster guy…
I suspect you might be one of the “Young Ones”, with loads of time to spend analyzing the careers of guys who flip flop between the NBA and DLeague. Or, even more so, actually pay attention to US college basketball. I don’t. Well, outside of a bunch of games in March, when I’m wrapped up in my bracket. But, to actually follow university players in another country? Sorry, my friend. It’s enough for me to get home from work, feed the kids, and relax in front of a Jays, Leafs or Raptors game. If I have any free time — trust me — I won’t be following Wake Forest…
What I do know is this Raptors team has stunk for most of it’s entire existence, and I’m fed up with it. I’ve been buying my seats for 12 years, but I think I’m at my breaking point. There’s only so much losing, and giving away of tickets, that the season seat holder base can handle. And, with the East getting even stronger over the past week, there is zero chance this team will be be competing to make the finals for many, many years.
Trust me.
