“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
KEVIN MARTIN
28 points
4 assists
9/16 FG (including 5/8 from 3PT)
5/5 FT

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
* We weren’t joined by a member of the Rockets … but if we had chatted with someone it would have been:
AARON BROOKS
28 points
7 assists
5 rebounds
11/16 FG (including 4/9 from 3PT)
2/2 FT

Shout-out to the Raptors:
MARCUS BANKS

4 assists
4 steals
3 rebounds
4/6 FG
4/5 FT

Stats that stood out:
- Points in the Paint:  44-40, Raptors
- 2nd Chance Points:  2-2
- Fast Break Points:  20-12, Rockets
- Toronto is now 2-4 this season without Chris Bosh in the line up
- The Rockets avoid falling below .500 with the win (now 30-29)
- In spite of how bad the loss was, Toronto didn’t give up anything in the standings to Chicago and Charlotte … who both lost tonight as well.  However, Milwaukee and Miami pick up a half-game in the standings.
- Hedo Turkoglu went down with an ankle injury in the 1st half - tried to come back - and then sat out the entire 2nd half.  We probably won’t get an update on his status until some time on Wednesday.
- Jose Calderon sat out of this game with an elbow laceration - sustained Sunday night in Oklahoma City

Thumbs Up:
- The final buzzer.

Thumbs Down:
- Toronto gave up 37 points and 72.2% FG to the Rockets in the 1ST QRT and the game was essentially over right there.

Smith Says:
- “Chris Bosh has to come back - ASAP.”

Jones Says:
- “The Houston back court was spectacular.”

Keep the 3-ball Streak Alive (919 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 5 of 14 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Knicks @ Raptors – Friday March 5 2010 - 7:00pm Eastern
- Tune in just after 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Would you agree that this Friday is the biggest game of the year so far? I think the way they respond on Friday, after having a few days off, will set the pace for the rest of the season, but that’s just my opinion.

Is it “impossible” for the Raps to match up against smaller teams (Housten, Milwaukee, Indiana, etc.)?

Is the backcourt defence that bad for the Raps?

Or… is it a scenario where the backcourts for the NBA have gotten so skilled that almost no-one can guard them?

I thought the “brutal effort” game synopsis days were over.
OK you have a number of your top players sitting (Bosh, Calderone) or hurting (Hedo for the 2nd half and Bargs just mentally :-( )

But the giving-up-lay-a-beating-on-us effort is embarassing - again. And we haven`t had to say that in a month.

Not to single out anyone, because all the starters were non existent pride-wise, but Bargnani AGAIN needs a shot of Italian Stallion swagger. Take EVERYTHING up hard and at least LOOK like you care.

Let`s hop some rest and the Knicks turn things around…

There’s always someone sayin’ the next game is the most important game of the year…

    Rubbish!!

The most important game of the year will be the Raps’ 1st playoff game.

The rest of these games mean nothing. They’re gonna finish somewhere between 5th and 8th…let’s hope not 8th.

Regardless of where they finish (5th-7th), they likely won’t know their opponent until a few days before the playoffs.

Until then (and nearly every game this season) — no single game matters. This team must will in the playoffs. Or else, it is an utter failure…yet again.

Friday’s game is just another game in an increasingly pointless 82 game schedule.
