Stats that stood out:
- Points in the Paint:  42-34, Toronto
- 2nd Chance Points:  9-8, Indiana
- Fast Break Points:  18-18 (EVEN)
- Toronto has now won 5 in a row
- The Raptors have the best home record in the Atlantic Division
- Toronto led by as many as 16 in this game … saw Indy wipe that out and tie it at 97-97 … before T.O. came back and closed the game on a 20-5 run
- This was Toronto’s 13th straight game of 100 points or more (a club record and the longest streak in the NBA)
- Toronto won every QRT
- The Raps shot 60.% FG for the game!

Thumbs Up:
- Johnson and Jose Calderon continue to impress in the 2nd unit.  The chemistry they have forged only gets stronger with every game that passes

Thumbs Down:
- Hedo Turkoglu took an elbow to the face 1:01 minutes into the game and was taken to hospital for x-rays and testing.  Hedo Turkoglu has a small, non-displaced fracture of orbital bone under right eye.  He will be evaluated again tomorrow and explore potential options for a protective face gear.

Smith Says:
- “The Leafs may have pulled off a big trade earlier today, but the headlines tomorrow should be about the Raptors 5-game winning streak.  It’s been a while since this city has had a winning team to talk about and cheer about – so it’s time to give the Raps their due.  Heck, they’ve won 11 of their last 12 at home!”

Jones Says:
- “The bench continues to shine — in particular … Johnson and Antoine Wright.”

Keep the 3-ball Streak Alive (908 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 7 of 16 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Raptors @ Pacers – Tuesday February 2 2010 – 7:00pm Eastern
- Tune in just after 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

    Good News:
The Raptors are 4.5 games out of 4th seat! :D

    Bad News:
If the Raptors make the 4th seat they will probably versus the Boston Celtics! :(

So what was that comment you made last night saying, you’ve looked at the schedule and only see 43-44 wins for the Raptors this year. The same number you saw at the start of the season.

So you think the team hasn’t got any better over the course of the year and will continue to punt games to teams with records under .500 at a reasonable clip?

I think you should look again!
47 wins is well within reach.

    Raps Fan … remember … in the playoffs it’s 1 vs 8 … 2 vs 7 … 3 vs 6 … and 4 vs 5.

So if the Raptors somehow track down nnnnnnnnnthe 4th seed … the only way they’d play Boston is if the Celts fall to #5. I personally don’t see that happening. That’s the way it stands right now (with Boston 4th and Toronto 5th) but I think the Celts will be in the Top 3 by the end of the year.

Steve … it’s not that they haven’t “gotten better” … it’s that I didn’t think they were as bad as their record indicated earlier in the year. Thus, with their current hot play, I think they’re back on track to be exactly what many of us thought they’d be: a 43 to 46 win team that had (has) a CHANCE to get as high as #4 … but probably, realistically, is going to land in the 5th or 6th seed.

That’s almost word for word what I said at the beginning of the year.

Heck, I’d love to see them win 47 games. Let’s go for 50! I’m just being cautious about the remaining games.

Further to that … if I’m saying 44 wins and you’re saying 47 … are we really gonna bicker over THREE games?

Fine, you win. Give ‘em 47

It’s far too early (but fun nonetheless) to worry about playoff seedings. A 3 game losing streak could see you in 8th! I think the thing we could agree on is that if the playoffs were to start today, no team would look forward to the Raps as easy first round pickings anymore.

Again, what I like about the current Raptor team is that they never seem to panic, never seem to be out of it and seem to be demanding of more and more accountability from everyone. Deepest bench in the East as well.

What I don’t like is their continued habit of either digging themselves a huge early hole or else giving up big leads intra-game.

They could certainly make it easier on themselves and get a bit more rest!

Let’s hope Turk if alright and if he has to wear a mask, it’s just for a game or two…

everyone needs to relax a bit, lets face it, they are playing great. but does anyone really see them winning a 7 game series against boston, atlanta, orlando or cleveland. lets see if we can pick up that last piece of the puzzle at the trade deadline.

i think we will go into the luxary tax for the right player

The Raps schedule from here on out is ridiculously easy.

    Just sayin’…

Hater, it’s not that they have a great chance to beat any of the big 4 in a seven game playoff series. It’s just that it’s not quite so implausible as it would have seemed a month ago.

The fact is, you can at least entertain the possibility now.

And I’ve got news for you.
Boston can get old or injured in a hurry (they’re maybe a year away still), VC WILL get injured on any given night and Cleveland OK it would take a miracle plus LeBron imploding.

Actually, I would have more concern playing a young, quick Atlanta team right now.

Plus, BC has said they’ll go over the cap for the right piece.

The problem is, other than POB and maybe Rasho, I don’t want to lose any pieces off the bench. You wouldn’t hav esaid that last year when there were virtually no untouchables.

This is the easiest part of the schedule. They should be winning these games if they want to be a legitimate #5 seed. I’ll say this, I will be shocked if they end up a top 4 seed in the East. There would have to be major injuries in the top 4 teams plus the Raps would have to consistently play well the rest of the way. for them to get a 4 seed.
