Stats that stood out:
- Points in the Paint: 36-26, Mavs

- Fast Break Points: 23-9, Raptors
- The Raptors are now 14-0 when holding their opponent under 100 points
- Toronto held Dirk Nowitzki to only 5 points in the 2nd half
- Toronto led by as many as 26 points in this game
- Andrea Bargnani had 16 of his 22 points in the second half
Thumbs Up:
- The Raptors did let up. They kept their foot on the throat of the Mavs today and never let Dallas back into the game. This was a big win over the #2 team in the Western Conference.
Thumbs Down:
- Not sure there’s anything ‘negative’ to say about this win. While some may look at Hedo Turkoglu’s 2 for 9 FG, I thought Turk played his best defensive game as a Raptor and found other ways to impact the game.
Smith Says:
- “The second unit was outstanding today and Amir Johnson has to get a lot of love for the energy and hustle (and rebounding) he provided today. Heck, he’s been doing it all season. And it looks like he’s developing a nice bit of chemistry with Calderon of late as well.”
Jones Says:
- “Great team effort for Toronto. The support players really stuck to their roles this afternoon and Calderon continues to do a great job off the bench.”
Keep the 3-ball Streak Alive (901 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 7 of 16 from 3PT range
Next game:
- Raptors @ Cavaliers – Tuesday January 19 2010 – 7:00pm Eastern
- Tune in just after 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Great win by the Raps!
As for Andrea Bargnani he had a great game today and he is starting to take the reigns from Dirk :)
Lets Go!
- Raps FanHey, I must say this was one of the best games the Raps played this year. Solid defensively for the entire game and the offense was on a roll. Jose was a man possessed. He was doing whatever he wanted to do out there. I think he wants he starting role back. ;-) But he would never say that.
I really enjoyed the game today! Especially the Bargnani 3 over Dirk from way out there. That was sweet!
- JulesIt’s starting to be fun to be a Raptors fan again!
- Mr.CuriousI really like the arrangement with the point guards. Jose is very effective coming off the bench. He’s not playing too many minutes so he can afford to be very aggresive and energetic without getting exhausted. Like in the “me J” era, each PG offers something different. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It looks like the team is starting to gel.
Also, Andrea can keep playing an overall game consistenly, he could be really be something.
Hey Eric,
What was that you said about the bobcats?
- ThomasThomas – do you have nothing better to do than come on here … blog after blog … and make some sort of ridiculous, completely-off-topic reference to the Charlotte Bobcats?
Maybe you should get yourself a blog and just preach your Bobcats sermon to anyone that’ll listen.
They’re 19-19. They’ve won 4 in a row. They’re 16-4 at home.
Good for them.
And I’d still take Toronto’s roster over theirs … and I’d still take Toronto over Charlotte in a 7-game series.
Thing is … I can accept the fact that you don’t agree with me. I’m find with that. Differing opinions make the world – and especially sports (and sports radio) go round. But you clearly can’t accept the same thing. So continue to derail (or try to) every blog on here – like this one – by making useless references to the Bobcats; but I’m not changing my mind/opinion.
Now … back to the actual game in question … Toronto got a big win over Dallas today. Maybe ya heard.
- Eric SmithJules … I agree
- Eric SmithThat’d be nice Mr. Curious. 2010 has been good to Bargnani so far. Gotta keep it up
- Eric SmithNice win over a quality team. It was great to see Dirk forced to take a seat and a technical to boot.
Jose is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK
Please leave to PG situation alone.
And no one get too excited if they have a tough one against Cleveland. Then we have to take a winnable back to back.
- GaryIf the Raps win 2 out of the next 4 (to go 4 of 6 in a tough week), would that be acceptable? To do that, they’ll likely have to sweep the back to back with Milwaukee or surprise against King James or Kobe.
W- Friday: Raptors at Knicks.
- GaryW- Sunday: Mavericks at Raps.
Tuesday: Raptors at Cavaliers.
Wednesday: Raptors at Bucks.
Friday: Bucks at Raptors
Sunday: Lakers at Raptors
Eric,
The bottom line is this, In any professional sport the best defensive team\teams go a long way in many cases all the way. Whether you want to face it or not the bobcats are the best defensive team in the league and have great scoring ability as well. I find it to be just incredibly sad that you to ignore that by making bias statements that hold no weight like Toronto in seven aganst the best defensive team in the league. A equivalent to saying you will take Dallaas over lakers in seven.
- ThomasThomas, seriously, you can get off your soapbox anytime man. It’s not “bias” … and it’s not that it holds “no weight”. It’s merely my OPINION. At no point did I say “I’m right” … I’ve simply said MY OPINION is that the Raptors are the better team and I’d take them in a 7-game series. And I stand by that. Again, thanks for derailing yet another blog with yet another useless mention of the Charlotte Bobcats.
It’s called a difference of opinion man. I can handle that you don’t agree with me (RE: the Raptors being the better team). Not sure why you can’t handle me not sharing the same opinion. It’s ridiculous.
- Eric SmithIs this Charlotte VS Toronto thing a hoax?
Hold on — let me check my calender. Nope, not April 1st yet.
Does anyone else here care if Toronto is better than Charlotte?
My money has both of them losing in the 1st round, anyways…so none of this silly banter will matter.
