Stats that stood out:
- Points in the Paint: 40-34 Toronto
- 2nd Chance Points: 18-12 Toronto
- Fast Break Points: 13-12 Detroit
- Toronto’s 19-point halftime lead (and 20 overall at one point) was shaved to 1-point in the 2nd half, but the Raptors never did relinquish the lead completely
- Tired legs? Richard Hamilton had only 4 points in the 2nd half (2 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th)
- Toronto shot 68.8% FG in the 1st QRT … and 62% FG at the half
- The Raptors improve to 12-0 when holding their opponent under 100 points
- The “sweater record” now sits at 5-0
- 19,800 in attendance (sellout)
Thumbs Up:
- This was the longest non-overtime game in franchise history (2 hours and 49 minutes). The previous high was 2 hours and 45 minutes (the 1st game in franchise history … back in the SkyDome days)
Thumbs Down:
- The loudest ovation of the day (from a very, very quiet SELLOUT crowd at the ACC) came after a Bosh FT gave Toronto 100 points … feeding the house with Pizza Pizza in the process
Smith Says:
- “4-0 now during this key 5-game stretch. Closing out 2009 with a win over the Bobcats – and a 5-game winning streak – would be huge.”
Jones Says:
- “Another solid defensive effort … to hold an opponent below 100 points and at only 40% shooting.”
Keep the 3-ball Streak Alive (892 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 4 of 13 from 3PT range
Next game:
- Bobcats @ Raptors – Wednesday December 30 2009 – 7:00pm Eastern
- Tune in at 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Great Win!
How about Wright!, Sunny! and Banks! these guys played hard!
What happen to DeMar? I hearing he made a shot Hi5ed a Fan and got benched!
True?
When is Jose getting better? Want to see if the Raptors are interested in trading him for an useful piece!
- Raps Fan No More! Why is everybody (tv/radio/press) that covers the Raps so fixated on the reaction of the fans in the arena during the course of the game?
If they want to boo (or cheer) for whatever reasons they deem necessary, leave them the hell alone. Bosh and the gang are big boys, I think they can handle it.
- Michel GAnd why was the “longest non-overtime game in franchise history” a thumbs up?
- Michel GI thought that long games were a thumbs down too lol. I do agree with the pizza thumbs down though. Especially with an offensive minded team like this, it should be pizza if holding opponents to under 95 points or something.
The only possible situation worse than the pizza cheer is the pizza jeer when they’re winning by 10 and have 99 points dribbling out the clock. That should be a standing O.
- BinsonAnother nice win with a lineup that’s starting to look like a real team. The overall effort is still going to have to pick up against the better (or healthier) teams.
There still doesn’t seem to be a consistent #2 option on this team after the Raps. I’d love to see Bargs or Hedo step up almost every night like CB4. We need a 17/8 avg from someone.
A win against the Bobkitties would be an excellent continuation.
- GaryMaybe Gary the Raptors need to trade for an option #2 like, Hedo is a passer and Andrea is just a shooter his handles are not good enough for him to create his own shoot and he still is not able to read the defense just does the fake and shoots!
Not sure if were going to get something good for Jose but, when he comes back and plays really good off the bench maybe the Raptors can trade Jose for someone better because clearly with this team fully healthy they have no chance in getting into the second round! And a trade has to come! Or Bosh will leave and we are going to get screwed again!
- Raps Fan No More!no post game show for the Dec 27
- kevinRaps Fan, I don’t know who you could trade to get a legit #2 option for the Raps; Calderone plus someone?
Certainly, if Calderone was to be traded, and I’m not sure that’s a great option yet, he’d had to get back on the floor and producing assist-filled-turnover-free games.
I thought (and it may still turn out that way) that without Dwight Howard gobbling up every rebound possible, Hedo’s numbers would go up by art least 2 rebounds/game.
And Bargnani continues to frustrate more with his lack of consistancy and PERCEIVED effort. He seems to have mostly just the three or the fake/step in and LONG two.
When he occasionally takes it to the rim, it’s only when he can avoid contact. His lack of rebounds, free throws and slams is confounding for an athlete of his size and talent.
It’s pure effort and desire that’s lacking. I know it’s just his personality, but he never seems to really care or get angry/emotional.
But I’ve been saying that for two years and I’m a Bargs supporter lol!
Let’s keep the train rolling Raps.
- GaryLOL, Gary!
Hey, I am with you that when Calderon comes back the Raptors should play him off the BENCH and I hope he plays well and when the end of January comes the Raps can trade him for a shooting guard that is reliable and will knock down the shot and make the defense pay.
DeMar and Sunny are Athletic but, they are not good shooters! And the Caldron and Jack combo is good but, they don’t get you the wins and BC has to do something IF this team has a chance to get into to the second round of the playoffs! Really impossible with the roster BC has right now!
And why the Hell is David Stern not saying nothing about T-Mac!!! He might get into the All-Star game with 3.9 points per game!
Give me a break!
- Raps Fan No More! The ONLY chance the Raps have to significantly improve this team is to move both Calderon and Bargnani.
The problem, however, is that there really isn’t much value in either player. Both players are wildly overpaid and on longterm contracts, so no team will interested in giving up much in the way of immediate help.
The Calderon situation is likely easier to resolve. When healthy, he is a serviceable guard. As such, if he can get back and regain his starting role, he could probably be moved for an expiring contract and a prospect.
Bargnani’s situation, however, is an utter mess. A massive contract that is in it’s first year — and, a player who just refuses to play with any intensity at all, outside of the odd flash (which typically only lasts for a few minutes; not even an entire half!).
Face it. Drafting Bargs 1st overall was an error by the, hopefully, exiting GM. But, signing him to a massive 5 year extension?????
As Chucky would say, “Are you kidding me?”. I don’t see his butt moving anywhere for a very long time. Which GM is going to give up assets for a lazy, virally uninspired centre who spends his time standing at halfcourt, like Mario waiting for a pass at the red line before taking off on a breakaway.
Another terrible, terrible move by Colangelo, one that will likely cripple this team for years.
- brento. And, don’t get me started on his other signing — another massive, 5 year contract — but, this one to a 30-something year old forward – fresh of a career year – who seems emotionally paralyzed and physically hypnotized by staring at his centre, who is fast asleep on the three point line.
Can you imagine a casual conversation between Bargs and Turk?
You are getting sleepy…very sleepy…zzzzzzzzzzzzz…
- brento.
