Saturday November 7 2009 - 11:09pm Central - Dallas, TX
Raptors @ Hornets
Final Score:
129-101, Mavericks
“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- JASON TERRY
19 points (12 in the 4th QRT)
4 assists
2 rebounds
8/12 FG
“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
* Unfortunately, we didn’t have a player join us tonight, but if we had our choice, it would have been:
- DIRK NOWITZKI
29 points
9 rebounds
4 assists
12/20 FG
3/4 from 3PT land
Shout-out to the Raptors:
- CHRIS BOSH
26 points
12 rebounds
8/16 FG
Stats that stood out:
- Toronto gives up 56 Points in the Paint to the Mavs
- The Raptors cough up 21 points off turnovers
- Mavs opened the game shooting 2/9 (22%). After that they went 51/76 (67%). WOW. And they finished the game a WHOPPING 62.4% from the field.
- Tight on the Glass: 42-39 REB advantage for Dallas
- Mavs win every QRT … scoring 30+ in both the 3rd (30 points) and 4th (44 points!)
Thumbs Up:
- Outside of Chris Bosh’s play, it’s hard to give a thumb up to anything for the Raptors in this game. Their defence was weak, and they couldn’t muster-up anything offensively for most of the night.
Thumbs Down:
- The second unit. Ya, the defence overall was TERRIBLE in this game. But the reserves have already earned a name for themselves as being hustle guys and solid defenders (especially Jarrett Jack, Antoine Wright, and Amir Johnson) and they showed little-to-none of that in this game. Offensively, Jack: 3/8 FG … Wright: 1/9 FG … Johnson: 1/3 FG
Smith says:
- “This was an embarrassing lost — coughing up 62.4% to the Mavs. The best thing to do about this one: Forget about it. Just forget about it. Don’t think about it and allow it to creep into your thoughts as you get set for the Spurs on Monday. 10-10-62. You’ll win 10 that maybe you shouldn’t - and shoot the ball like crazy. You’ll lose 10 that you shouldn’t - or just play TERRIBLY. It’s the middle 62 that’ll make your break your season. Let’s call this game one of the ‘10′ … ”
Jones Says:
- “The Raptors looked listless at times. You would never believe this was the same team that drubbed the Hornets last night.”
Keep the 3-ball Steak Alive (866 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 8 of 22 from 3PT range
Next game:

Hope Andrea learns more from Dirk in terms of how to play offensively and defensively
- Raps FanHi Eric,
Last week you were talking about retiring or honouring Vince Carter’s time as a Raptor.
Vince was awesome. He was our hero. That was what made his quitting on the team such a bitter pill to swallow. Vince could have demanded a trade while playing hard. He quit on us. He collected his money while people like me shelled out our money hoping for his best. It didn’t happen.
- kevinI can easily remember Vince as the best Raptor to put on the jersey. I used to love Chuck’s descriptions of him. But I will never forgive VC for quitting on us. I don’t think that should just be swept under the rug and forgotten.
Vince is a fallen hero to me and it was his choice to take the fall.
