Friday November 6 2009 – 9:48pm Central – New Orleans, LA
Raptors @ Hornets
Final Score:
107-90, Raptors
“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- CHRIS BOSH
27 points
7 rebounds
2 blocks
9/9 FG
8/11 FT
“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- HEDO TURKOGLU
16 points
4 rebounds
4 assists
4/8 from 3PT land
Shout-out to the Hornets:
- CHRIS PAUL
21 points
18 assists
7 rebounds
2 steals
1 turnover
8/13 FG
Stats that stood out:
- Bosh was perfect … 9/9 FG
- Toronto shoots 51% from the field as a team
- Raps were down 2 at the half, and then up 18 after 3. A 20-point swing in ONE quarter.
- Raps on the Glass: 39-35 REB advantage
- Toronto outscores the Hornets 34-14 in the 3RD QRT
- In that 3RD QRT … the Raptors with a franchise-record 8 three-balls
Thumbs Up:
- Andrea Bargnani had a game-high 9 rebounds (1 shy of back to back double-doubles)
Thumbs Down:
- Quite honestly, it’s hard to find anything wrong with this game. Yes, Chris Paul WENT OFF … but that was part of the plan for Toronto: Let CP3 “get his” and keep everyone else off the score sheet. Toronto did just that. Plus, the Raps didn’t turn the ball over much (11), they out-rebounded the Hornets, shoot 50+ per cent, and won on the road by 17! I guess if you wanna get picky, you could said the Raps looked a little sluggish to start the game and they can’t afford to do that in Dallas tomorrow night.
Smith says:
- “This ‘W’ means just as much MENTALLY as it does in the standings. What a great way to start a tough road trip … with a balanced attack.”
Jones Says:
“Great job of letting Chris Paul get his and nobody else contributing.”
Keep the 3-ball Steak Alive (865 games and counting):
- The Raptors were 14 of 29 from 3PT range
Next game:
- Raptors @ Mavericks – Saturday November 7 2009 – 8:30pm Eastern
- Tune in at 8:00pm for the pre-game show and just after 8:30pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Great Win!
If I am Chris Paul I would be very very! disappointed in my team and if I was him I’ll ask to be traded to the Raptors :)
- Raps FanGreat Win—Bad TV Coverage
Watched the game on TV and thought Jack Armstrong was the leader of the Chris Paul fan club instead of being a Raptor colour man. “Paul is back in and the game is tied lets see what a difference he will make. There it is-a steal, an assist and a bucket all in 35 seconds. Dribble penetration is killing the Raps.”
- Don W.Did he beat Jose off the bounce once all night? Did the Hornets not take Paul off Jose because he couldn’t handle him? As for Paul’s numbers–18 assists someone on the Hornets was playing well in order to stick those passes. The Raps just out and out dominated the Hornets, including Chris Paul.
Smith, is there anyway you can give us some of the scoop coming from around the locker room? Is there anyone disgruntled with the distribution of minutes? What’s Bosh’s mood like these days when the mic isn’t on? What’s Derozan’s character profile – is he soft like Vince or of a more composed lot? I know you’ve got planes to catch and all, but this stuff A) Impacts the team; B) Is newsworthy; C) Is underreported and D) Requires insider access. I don’t have D.
