The Phoenix Suns are in Vancouver … getting set to face the Portland Trailblazers tonight. Apparently it’s a frenzy of Steve Nash hysteria in Van-City - and understandably so. As I’ve said a thousand times, it’s a travesty that that city no longer has an NBA franchise and the league should GO BACK to Vancouver one day. If Charlotte and New Orleans can get a “second chance”, the folks in BC should too!
And for those of you that don’t have a Twitter account, check out what two members of the Suns had to say about their first trip to Vancouver …
Jared Dudley: “I’m really feeling Vancouver; feels like Toronto. I’d rather play here then Memphis, LOL.”
Jason Richardson: “I’m feeling Vancouver. Sure beats Memphis.”
Nice to see that folks like Dudley and Richardson are confirming what I have been saying for years …
The worst trade in NBA history: Vancouver for Memphis!
This is a great time to remind folks as well … I have a standing offer on the table to help bring a team back to Vancouver. And I’ve got Jack Armstrong and Paul Jonesy on board as well. We each offered-up $25,000 to a potential “expansion bid”. We figure we need about $250 million to really make a run at a relocation, so we’re only about $249,925,000 shy :)
If you’ve got a few hundred million kickin’ around (Hello Jim Balsillie), feel free to contact me anytime.
Alright folks … I’m off to host “The Game Plan”. Wayne Parrish - executive director and CEO of Canada Basketball - will join Jack and I in-studio from 2:20pm-3:00pm today (plus many other guests as well).
Have a good one
E. Smith

I was thinking to start a drive to help bring the NBA back at my school, Brock University. I know a lot of other people who feel the same way too…maybe we can help contribute…
- AndreaJack is in for ANOTHER $25,000 and I’m good for another $5000
Plus, regular listener/reader TOM L. is in for $1000 too
So now we’re up to $106,000!
I still figure we’re at least $249,894,000 shy of our goal.
- Eric SmithSherm and Leo vs ESmith and Jonesy…games to 7 (3’s are 2’s and 2’s are 1’s) who takes best of 7 series?
I think a MediaBallers tourney (or Media vs Bloggers) would be a great way to raise money for charity…or a “bring back the Grizz” fund. I’d fork over some cash (or I’d start a blog to get in on the action). Food for thought.
- RaptorontoHere is the Cleveland Cavs Rap song!
It is jokes!

Where is the Toronto Raptors rap song Eric?
- Raps FanHey eric, quick question
If bosh decides to walk next year in 2010, how much cap space would we have available to sign players?
- SunraajThe “new and improved” Bargnani, eh?
Wow…if Bargs is going to play like he is tonite against the T-Wolves…it’s going to be a loooooong season.
Against a very, very weak Minny frontcourt, Bargs is taking way too many shots, missing most of them, hasn’t gone to the line ONCE (!) and isn’t rebounding.
This is the same Bargnani I’ve been watching for three years. I just don’t see any improvement at all.

“If David Stern has had one major regret as he nears the 25-year mark of his reign as commissioner, it is how the National Basketball Association handled its expansion into Vancouver in 1995. “Maybe we shouldn’t have done it there, maybe we should have only expanded into Toronto . . . that was a great disappointment to me,” he said.
Stern is doubtful the NBA could ever return to British Columbia.
“I don’t think we can go back,” Stern said. “I think that was a great city, and I think we just didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.”
