Get used to this face folks, ’cause based on the way he performed in the Las Vegas Summer League this year … I’ve got to think that Quincy Douby has at least earned a closer look in Training Camp come October …

He’d be behind Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack (assuming Jack becomes a Raptor) at the point – and probably Roko Ukic too.

But depending on what goes down with Carlos Delfino and/or any other free agent target that could come into the mix at the two, Douby might just have a shot at getting some burn here and there … trying to find some minutes amongst a crowd that will at least include DeMar DeRozan and Antoine Wright.

Douby led the Raptors in scoring in Las Vegas, averaging 18 PPG (along with 4.0 REB and 3.8 ASST as well).

The 4th year guard had his best season in 2007-2008 when he appeared in 74 games for the Sacramento Kings, averaging 4.8 PPG in 11:48 minutes.

One slightly undersized “combo” guard is enough. Our problem is we need a solid defender at the 2 and Jack & Douby won’t cut it. We absolutely need a (poor man’s version) of Dahntay Jones. We have ENOUGH scoring.
By having better perimeter defenders, it will lower our opponent’s FG and increase our defensive rebounding. Lowering opp FG% and thus increasing our def boards leads to fast breaks and easier buckets.
We absolutely have to find a way to trade or part ways with two of these three: Ukic, Banks and Douby. Banks is likely unmovable. Find a way to move the other two and obtain a good sized defender at the 2.

You know who we really should be talking to? Jamario Moon.

    A) he’s inexpensive
    B) we need major defensive help at the 2/3 spot
    C) we will need rebounding help

Triano would sit him down to understand this role – as at any one time we’ll have 3 or 4 great scorers on the floor with him. His job is to crash the offensive glass from the weak side (when he “gets” this on occasion, he’s usually successful), defend like a mad man, focus on also being a help defender (with his quickness and reach), and assist on the boards defensively. I think fans’ main problem with Moon was his shot selection – which can be 100% corrected through coaching.

It was great to see Chuck Swirsky call the Raptors/Bucks game on twitter! He even broke out the salami and cheese. You gotta love it!

I like Douby to stay with the Raps as a scorer off the bench at the SG. The price is hard to beat at $855k, for the potential he provides.

It seems like Douby’s been looking for his own shot A LOT in these summer league games. Do you think this was the right strategy or do you think he would have been better served to act as more of a distributor? I’m not sure what the Raptors would be looking for from him if he does indeed make the roster.

If the hopeful starting lineup is expected to be:

    PG calderon/ukic/banks/jack
    SG derozan/wright/douby/(jack)/(delfino)
    SF turkoglu/delfino/george
    PF bosh/evans/POPS
    C bargnani/nesterovic/POB

    () = combo guys

That’s a total of 16 players which is over the limit. If BC can work some more magic and somehow dump banks to teams like Denver, Milwaukee, Philidalphia, or Phoenix… his dream of having three players per position can actually be realized.

With that hopeful lineup, the raptors may really have a chance at 4th place!! -.-
    cmon… bostons haxs :(

Moon? Why MOON? ALL THE GUYS? AND MOON? He makes more 3 point attempts than Free Throws! He is NOT THE ANSWER!

    DeMar DeRozan is the Answer!!!

P.O.B would be great to have but, Rasho a vet can help Barganai and Bosh with the Boards and maybe teach Patick O Bryant to defend.

Hopeful starting lineup is expected to be:

    PG calderon/jack/ukic/banks
    SG derozan/wright/douby/
    SF turkoglu/delfino/george
    PF bosh/evans/
    C bargnani/nesterovic/O’Bryant

    * I Bryan.C can trade banks for a PF that is overpaid like him for two years or if he is good 1 year, than I will be happy

Eric, when will HOOPS be on? And also, your opinion in Rubio, Boozer, and Odom?

    Thanks!!!

The suit brigade for Raptors, Banks, George, & O’Bryant. They are practice fodder, may they never see a game minute.

Wright, Jack and Delfino, if he signs, are the best defenders at the wings, while DeRozan learns on the job. If Jack comes, Ukic and Douby will be reserves on the bench.
