Just a quickie here folks …
I had a chance to talk to Jay Triano today – as he gets set to throw out the first pitch at the Blue Jays game tomorrow night. And while we were chatting about baseball, I asked him if there was any kind of update RE: his coaching staff. Here’s what he had to say:
“We are trying to work on contracts and doing some negotiating and hopefully will have something to say in the next week.”
Triano wouldn’t really confirm any names, but as I’ve written here in the past – and said on the radio – it’s all-but a given that Marc Iavaroni will be on the staff and Alvin Williams name has been thrown around quite a bit as well Coaches / basketball development consultants like Micah Nori and Eric Hughes seem like a good bet to stick around too.
Hopefully something gets done shortly. I’d be shocked if the staff wasn’t in place and announced by the time the June 25 Draft rolls around.
SPEAKING OF THE DRAFT …
The Raptors will continue their pre-draft workouts this week with sessions at the ACC on both Thursday and Friday.
Word is that Jonny Flynn and Jeff Teague will be among the players in Toronto on Friday, while Thursday’s participants still have yet to be confirmed. Jrue Holiday may be one of those players, but we’ll see.

Hey Eric,
Would trading down be a viable option, as the talent from 6 – 20 is considered to be generally the same? Why fill only one need when we can possibly fill two? Is there any substance behind the Bosh to Detroit rumours? I would seriously consider trading Bosh if could get Boozer & Deng in return, especially if Bosh remains tight lipped on whether he will stay in T.O.
