Wednesday April 8 2009 – 9:26pm Eastern (Indianapolis, IN)

Raptors @ Pacers

Final Score:
130-101, Pacers

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
* We did not have a member of the Pacers join us, so they missed out on the Fazoolis fun.  But if we had our choice, we would have chatted with:
29 points
4 rebounds
10/16 FG
9/9 FT

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
14 points
14 rebounds
5 assists
5/10 FG

Shout-out to the Raptors:
21 points
9 rebounds
3 assists
9/15 FG

Stats and Notes that stood out:
- Toronto has now lost 3 in a row
- Murphy notches his 46th double-double of the season
- Indy led by as many as 41 points in this game
- Pacers out-rebound the Raptors
- Indy scores 37+ points in the 1ST, 2ND, and 3RD quarters (37, 37, and 41 respectively)

Thumbs Up:
- For TORONTO?  Ugh.  I’ll say it again – for the 4TH or 5TH time this season:  “The final buzzer”

Thumbs Down:
- Aside from coughing-up 130 points and 55% to the Pacers?  How ’bout Shawn Marion going 2 for 8 (4 points), and Jose Calderon’s 2 for 10 (5 points) as well?

Smith says:
- “This still beats working for a living … but watching (and calling) that was agonizing.”

Jones says:

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 3 of 15 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Wizards @ Raptors
– Friday April 10 2009
- Tune in just after 7:00pm Eastern for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Sadly Will Solomn was released by Sacramento according to the Sacaramento Bee. Oh well, When is this season over?

Wants to build by trading and buying free agents. That is a fools game unless you got unlimited money. It is time for Bryan to go to a large market and for the Raptors to get a GM that wants to build by the draft. This team is a zero and Bosh is not and never was a franchise player.

I really like him even though things have gone bad. My first choice would be for him to accept he is not in Pheonix any more and he has to build with young players. Search the world. We cannot big for the biggies…

Any goodwill and momentum built up during the winning streak has firmly evaporated during this game.

That was painful, embarassing and unacceptable. Zero commitment to defence, none.
All about me and my stats and no back to back lame excuses.

I would have sat the entire staring lineup down for the 2nd half.

The upside is it cements the fact that MAJOR changes still have to be made this off-season – like BC was wavering in the last week…

This was the PACERS…embarassing. Other than that, a pretty good game.

Bosh is looking much thicker lately and i personally think his game is much better now than in the beginning of the season. His defence has looked much better. Once thought Bosh Bargnani could not play together but both players should come into camp stronger and with some big chips on their shoulders. This was a good year to figure out where this teams is and much more movement can be made with the roster than last. Many good pieces.

Eric, enjoyed your interview with Roger on Stormin’s show .. You told it like it is .. Congrats

O’Bryant had some nice numbers :

    8/11 7 rbs +3 in 20 mins .

Maybe give him 25-30 mins ?..let’s see what he’s got ?

Who in the Raptors draft position will put the Raptors back in the playoffs by filling the 4 to 5 spots they need to improve? Yes the draft is important for the future but for next year the Raptors need to make smart trades and make good free agent signings. Draft, trades, and free agency. A GM need to do all three to make their team better.

Contrast the following quote with what we saw from the Raptors last night:

“I think we have a proud bunch of guys,” Jack said. “Regardless of what the situation is, whether we’re in contention or not in contention, we’ve got guys who each time they step on the floor, they want to represent the organization really well.”

Aside from Chris Bosh, most of the team lookd totally disinterested. Patrick O’Bryant was the lone bright spot in his first career start for Toronto (16 points and seven rebounds).

We def need a quality big man to come off the bench when Bargs gets into one of his “foul early and out” games.

We’ve seen this before though. Losing is one thing; losing without any effort, heart or pride in the jersey is another.

Interesting article on our friend Sam Mitchell , who coached Raps when they used to make the playoffs :

google ” Ex-Wolves player Sam Mitchell still has coaching bug – “

It will be interesting to see if Sam catches on as a head coach next year or has to start as an asst or scout.

I just don’t see his name on the top of too many lists.
