From the “it can’t be true” files:

Here’s a real quote from my season seat renewal email message that arrived in my inbox today…

“Our second stage of renewal prizing begins this week, and runs until March 22nd. Renew between now and March 22nd, and you will be entered to win one of 75 invitations for you and a guest to attend an exclusive Meet and Greet with Bryan Colangelo.”

Can you believe the nerve of the franchise to use a Meet and Greet with BC as an incentive to get our renewal forms completed?

I’m a bit confused…this can’t be for fans looking to rip into BC at the meeting…because you have to renew your tickets to go!

I’m thinking the team actually believes an opportunity to meet BC is of value to Raptors fans!

What the heck is wrong with this organization? How deep are their collective heads buried in the sand for anyone to believe this is going to be perceived as something positive?

There is, officially, absolutely nothing to support with respect to this franchise. Not only are they awful on the court, the front office is arrogant and demeaning towards it’s fans.

    Disgusting.

    Eric,
No comment on the loss. Surprised at the lack of PC from Samuel Dalembert! Refreshing I guess but really surprised! Is Leo the type to respond to comments like that!

Ouch. Sam with the major diss of Leo. All the other members of the Canadian team supported Leo and didn’t agree publicly with his comments about Leo. Well, he seems to lack any character by saying something like that. WOW.

Hi Eric…Two things…I know that you think that the CFL is a bush league; (you won’t even watch a Grey Cup); but Eric… how “bush” is it, that this pathetic raptors team STILL has a chance to make the playoffs?! Unbelievable!! The eastern conference, and, in particular, the atlantic division, has got to be the “MOST BUSH”, worst bracket in pro sports. I truly hope that Colangelo is NOT “rewarded” with a playoff appearance this year.
Secondly, I would not enter a NASCAR race with an Indy car. It’s obvious that the NBA has become more of a “display of atheticism”, rather than a true “team” league. A collection of “stars” will always have an advantage over a well-coached team of lesser-known role players, because of the league’s desire to be a “star-driven” entity (Mavericks vs. Heat finals of 3 years ago- the prime proof of this theory).
    Colangelo needs to …
1-Find a way to keep Bosh
    2-Sign Nash
3-Sign the biggest name in the 2009 Free Agent market!
Bryan’s dream of a euro-style team should end after the butt-kicking the raptors got tonight!
In the NBA it IS all about the name on the back of the jersey rather than the logo on the front!!!

Jim your thoughts are headed in the right direction.. YES the NBA(refs) are always looking to aided their star players but you can’t fault them b/c stars drive the league.

YES the raptors should try to keep Bosh unless a team is going to offer up a deal the gm can’t pass on.

NO the raptors should not try to sign Nash… Why do you want a worse defender then Calderon. I understand that he will produces alot more than Jose on the offensive side but it is proven that still of ball doesn’t not lead to playoff wins aka a NBA TITLE

And sorry to say Jim there is not much out there in the 2009 free agent pool

Good on Sammy D. for just calling it how it is! I’m wondering if anyone ask Jack about the comments will he totally back his buddy Leo. I ask this b/c Jack has been hammering home all year that NBA teams just give head coaching jobs to former players with little or no coaching experience.

I saw that too and was thinking “that is gonna completely DEPLETE the sales, not HELP them” oh MLSE what are you thinking????

    Eric,

When Jay Triano says in his post-game interview,

“We tried changing the angle on the Pick & Roll … there’s only so many different things you can do. At some point you just have to be able to keep someone in front of you.”

Do you think he is identifying either:

    A. The Original Ball Defender; or,
    B. The Picker’s Original Defender;

as being the MAIN culprit in last night’s game who was incapable of “Just Keeping Someone in front of you”?

IMO … when an NBA coach says that specific comment he is most frequently speaking about the Picker’s Defender, as the MAIN culprit, rather than the Original Ball Defender … which is, in fact, the exact opposite of what many “casual fans”, and “media types”, etc., mistakenly assume to be the case, in response to Pick & Roll/Pop Actions on the floor, from a defensive schem perspective.

I was listening to the concerns of paying CB max money and aside from whether hs’s a max money player, the implications of a potentially lowered cap in the next year or two.

Eric, where does Boston sit in relation to the cap with their big three? How can they stay under or how much are they over?

I can understand in Clevelnd, Miami etc where it’s basically one giant salary and a few others but don’t these and others ie Lakers, Houston, Dallas all have the same concerns of fitting 3 A listers on one payroll?

All the Raptor haters need to chill! Only one team wins a title every year. Don’t you think every other team wants to win and not lose. Would you rather be a Wizards or Clippers fan right now? Seriously, it will turn around but everyone just needs to chill and see what happens in the off season.

Sam D. had every right to say whatever he said to Leo. And because of Leo…Canada got blasted by the US and all of the other teams. Maybe Jay Triano should go back to coach team Canada!!
