Thumbs Up:
- Energy. Hustle. Pace. Check out the fast-break points: 29-16 Toronto (Raps normally average only 7.4 per game)
Thumbs Down:
-Honestly, nothing really jumps out. Perhaps keeping a closer eye on Harrington … but that’s really stretching. This was a solid win overall.
Smith says:
-”If this was a glimpse of what the Raptors could be or should be in an up-tempo style, then I say … bring it on! But I need to see this kind of effort for a stretch of games before I get too excited.”
Jones says:
- “Much better energy today and it was reflected with 4 guys having double-doubles for the first time in 8 years.”
“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 8 of 15 from 3PT range
Next game:
- Timberwolves @ Raptors
– Tuesday February 24 2009
- Tune in just after 7:00pm Eastern for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

YES! Il MANGO! YES SHAWN MARION almost with the triple double!
Playoffs if we come???
Or are we going to finish at the 9th seat by going down every year by 3 seats!!!
- RAPS FANWhat do we write?? How well they played today? How they decided to run and play with some effort finally? I’m not happy, man!! This win does nothing for me…all I want to see as a fan is this effort on a consistent basis and…win or lose, I’ll be happy.
Forget the playoffs…Colangelo needs to stop leaning against that ACC wall and start scouting some college games.
- Mr. TLets not get out of hand here talking about playoffs.. We have to understand that teams that have the raptors on their schedule are looking at this team as a ‘W’ the same way that we USE TO look at the Knicks/bobcats/griz/twolves pretty bad company.
It is nice to see a wing player on the raps that has a great basketball iq.
Just another quick thought for raps fans who know players in the league why did colangelo not step up and pick up T.Sefolosha from the bulls. and yes i would give up a conditional 1st round pick/and cash for him… why b/c your looking at a player who 6′7 can handle the ball, defend 2 or 3 position and most importantly(laughing) he is EUROPEAN!!
- clutch_kthanks raptors for showing up today and giving the fans a hint of what you guys are capable of doing, kudos to Marion, Bosch, Bargnani et al
- normfromnovascotiaMarion certainly is the guy we need in our team. Hopefully we can make a push for the playoff able to resign him. They didn’t reply that much on Calderon bring the ball up. At times Marion was faster that they other players. Good job rap, knicks made you guys sweat and it was worth it to see.lol.
- GeorgePLEASE…PLEASE…PLEASE:
NO COMMENTS ABOUT HOW THE RAPTORS ARE TURNING THINGS AROUND, DRIVING TO THE PLAYOFFS, FIGURING THINGS OUT, LEAVING THE PAST BEHIND THEM…ETC, ETC, ETC.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!
(Sadly, today’s win means absolutely nothing…no team goes 0-82)
- brentoEric, do you think that the Suns have a chance of making the playoffs without Amare?
- Raps FanRaps Fan…Il Mango? Huh?
That’s actually pretty good…Andrea Bargnani — about as soft as an overripened mango!!
Il Mango…that’s too funny!
I won’t even comment on the “9th seat” thing…
- brentoRAPS FAN - don’t mean to point out your error, but “IL MANGO” is just too funny.
Glad to see the boys bounce back and play with determination and desire. Now, will they keep it up?
- Jeff WThe draft is coming up and much important thing to look forward to with a lot of missions for the Raptors club.
- StevenWho do you think the Raps should pick in the lottery?
- Joe N.I’m sorry but…one more time…’Il Mango’????
Awesome…totally awesome…
I’d question whether or not you would say that to Andrea’s face but I’m sure he’d give you that same incredulous gazed/hazed look he seems to give everyone!
What a mango he is!
- brentoBargnani is looking like a solid NBA starter recently ..
- Chas CalzI’d like to see Triano experiment with various line-ups so that the last 24 games are useful .
For example, maybe start Joey Graham and tell him he’s going to get 38-39 mins or so, no matter how he plays ..Play O’Bryant 25-30 mins .. See what he can do . That type of experimenting so we can figure out what we need for next season
It was just nice to see Bosh/Marion with a smile on their faces again. A crappy team yes, but a good win nonetheless.
And Bargnani shooting threes, putting it on the floor and getting fouled for free throws AND actually driving to the tin. Someone show him that game tape before EVERY game.
A win againt Minnesota and who knows, maybe optimism reigns. A loss and it will look just as bleak with a few more games knocked off the sched.
Go Raps
- GaryEric you use some great phycology
you say that your critical of the Raptors, however you never seem to marry the job that the player personelle is doing with the job Brian has done as a GM in Toronto, If you did marry the two, then you wouldn’t be saying silly things like a “To Say Fire Colangelo Is Just Stupid” Ask yourself theses questions, 1.Has the team regressed,
2.How much movable assets has Brian obtained in three years that are worth something signifigant in return
2. Given the fact that we have not built a winning culture in Toronto, has Brian done anything to attract attractive assetts.
3.How successful is Brians own Contribution to home grown talent.
4.How many GM’s would Draft a Euro player first overall, and in regards to the Charlie V move, how many GM’s move a starting foward for an undersized injury progned guard that would get us back the same thing in return.
The Raptors largely regressed over the past two seasons and sam lost his Job, Why would it then be stupid if one has the opinion to fire Brian.
Finally why do you always try to convince people that you do not show favour to Brain, When I’ve never heard you call out Steve Kerr in phoenix saying that steve let Terry Porter Down, your critism of this team does not go beyond the sidelines, whereas it should go all the way to top management. Saying “it’s on Brian” is not critism it’s merely pointing out who is the one that has to make changes, I remember hearing you say on double dribble say that Steve Kerr let Terry Porter down, So did not Brian let Sam down with personelle that only takes jump shots and does not play d?
- ThomasEric, good to hear an honest answer from you today on the fan…I agree!! Bosh, long-term = NO! I think BC needs to re-sign Marion and get a couple of pieces from a Bosh trade that can lead this team into a running style of play. Another interesting thing is that Iavaroni, a coach that was rumoured to come to the raps before BC re-signed Sam (with close ties to BC) will also be available this summer…it’s going to be an intersting off-season, indeed…
