Friday February 6 2009 - 9:35pm Central (New Orleans)
Raptors @ Hornets
Final Score:
101-92, Hornets
“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- RASUAL BUTLER
17 points
8 rebounds
5 assists
7/15 FG
“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- PEJA STOJAKOVIC
28 points
5 rebounds
2 assists
9/18 FG
7/11 3PT FG
3/3 FT
Shout-out to the Raptors:
- JERMAINE O’NEAL
24 points
6 rebounds
3 assists
10/16 FG
4/4 FT
Stats that stood out:
- Raptors close out the 2nd QRT on a 29-9 run to take a 6-point lead into the half, after trailing by as many as 14 points at one point
- New Orleans 3PT shooting: 7/19 going into the 4th QRT, but then they caught fire … going off for 8/13 from distance in the final QRT
- Points in the Paint: 36-24 Toronto
- Fast Break Points: 14-2 Toronto
Thumbs Up:
- Jermaine O’Neal was a huge presence down low, but the Raptors – strangely – went away from him down the stretch in the 4TH quarter
Thumbs Down:
- The 4TH quarter. New Orleans outscored Toronto 37-23 on 11/18 from the floor (including 8/13 from long distance)
Smith says:
“We’ve seen this outcome too many times this season. Toronto coughed it up down the stretch and got away from what was working (the inside game).”
Jones says:
“Give New Orleans credit for continuing to shoot the 3 to grab the lead. Toronto went away from the inside attack and did not execute down the stretch.”
“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 7 of 14 from 3PT range
Next game:

Neil
I totally aggree with you. Get much for Bosh and move him because he is neither a three or a 5 or a 4 for that matter. He has become a floater jumpshot shooter. He is a luxury tax and only an idiot would pay him 25 million. Get a dominate 5 and the best 3 or 2 money can buy and maybe not in that order. They are the cornerstone positions in the NBA. Bosh is neither. Andrea is neither. Calderone is neither. Was Colangelo on holidays up here or he is really trying to build a team?
Neil, from now do me a favour and put both our names on your comments. I cannot be bothered correcting my english and you say what a I want to say much better.
- MilesDare we say: Lottery?
- Joe N.I’m not blaming him for the loss…but…why is Bargnani going under the screens in the fourth quarter when he’s defending Peja?? I just don’t get it??
- Mr. TC.H.O.K.E.D.
Yah the other team was dropping 3s but we stopped going inside to JO. Bad choice.
UGH.
- AndreaEric,
Since Raptors are in Memphis, Jimmy Hart “mouth of the south” is on my mind who is also from Memphis. I am a HUGE fan of him. I’ve met the guy in Tampa. He’s extremely funny, man. So wondering if you also like Jimmy and his gift of gab?
- BeburgDidn’t we see this movie a few games ago?
Giving up 15 3-pointers in a game (a Hornets record) means you just don’t give yourself much of a chance to win and waste a good effort from JO in the process.
Nice to see a bit of life from Moon buy Joey disappeared after a career night the game before (Lakers).
Joey, Moon and Parker can be great any given night, just with zero consistency. Hopefully Bargs is past that.
IF these guys can ever get it together on a night to night basis, we have a chance.
If not, you get what you got…
Try it again tonight Raps
- GaryWhat happen to Graham?
- RAPS FANI’m tired of hearing how Jay Triano has been doing a good job. He has been a complete failure. Raptor analysts continue to say that he has the players support and are practicing well. Unfortunately it’s the games that count. It’s not his fault that he didn’t get a training camp but his job was to slavage the season. Instead he has wasted it.
- ALLooking at schedule, Raps have chance to go 20-10 in last 30 games .
That might get us a playoff spot .
There’s a good chance we can end our losing streak with games at Memphis and then Minnesota .
- Chas CalzI’m fairly sure Colangelo will make a trade soon . Not really sure what he does all day as GM , but I imagine he’s busy man .
Any Jimmy Hart fans in here?
- BeburgRemember Jimmy Hart managing the “Hart Foundation” as well as the “Hulkster” brother?! lol
