Wednesday January 7 2009 – 10:55am Eastern
I thought I had a scoop for you but I think Jay Triano may have already broken the news on the FAN’s morning show earlier today …
Joey Graham will start in place of Jamario Moon tonight.
Moon has flown back to Alabama to be with his wife – and she gives birth to their first child.
His wife had her labour induced this morning and she should have the baby at any moment – if she hasn’t already!
Congrats to Jamario and his family.
Jermaine O’Neal and Jose Calderon remain in Toronto, thus, they won’t play tonight either. Andrea Bargnani and Will Solomon will continue to start in place of O’Neal and Calderon.
We’re on the air just after 7:00pm tonight - no pre-game show … just straight to the tip!
E. Smith

Congrats to Jamario but I’m glad to see Joey start and get some extended minutes.
Let’s hope it’s the good Joey.
On a team where the most obvious weakness is speed and finish from the wings, Jamario continues to frustrate and disapoint with only a highlight tomahawk every game or so for the effort.
I like him; I just don’t think he has enough to be a consistent starter in this league. Actually that should be SHOWS enough to be a starter, because he has the talent, just not the drive in my opinion.
Joey at least can get nasty when he wants to be and he’s a wide body.
Good luck tonight Raps.
- GaryEric, No pre-game show ? That’s cruel and unusual punishment for us listeners , especially those of us without TSN2 , whatever that money grab channel is .
- Chas CalzEric, do you and Jonesy always travel on the team flight ? Do you stay at team’s hotel ?
Hey Eric. Any news on when JO will be back?
- GeoffCongrats Moon Family to the addition of the new Star of the family!! All the best! Hopefully good Joey G shows up! (Dang, I hope I didn’t jinx it)
- Lanny @ RBC from WhitbyNo word on JO – he’s not with the team so we won’t know anything until tomorrow’s practise
- E. SmithNo pre-game because the tip off is at 7pm and they’ll never cut into Primetime Sports w/ McCown.
- E. SmithAnd, yes, we travel with the team. Only “team broadcasters” are allowed to around the NBA; beat writers unfortunately have to fly commercial
- E. SmithEric,
Is there any truth whatsoever to a possible Andrew Bargnani and Josh Howard trade as discussed on HoopsWorld today?
- MikeHello, Eric.
Hope all is well with you.
Recall when you first started making appearances, as a guest, on the old “Sportsline” show, hosted then by Jim Tatti [I think].
Can’t remember though, what exactly was your claim-to-fame back then, re: the Raptors and the NBA.
If possible, please refresh my memory.
Much appreciated, and TIA. :-)
- khandorIs this true???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Howard
“2008-2009
Josh Howard was traded to the Toronto Raptors on January 7, 2009 in exchange for Anthony Parker and Andrea Bargnani”
- shootermckBob McCown is overrated…give us the pre-game show!!!
- Mr. TNo, that wikipedia thing isn’t true.
Thing about wikipedia … anybody can add just about anything … until moderators find it all and clean it up
- E. Smithno, Mr. T, he’s not. He might be the best sports radio host in North America. But, I appreciate that you’d like a pre-game show!
- E. SmithKhandor … my claim to fame? Hmm … I don’t know what you’re referring to to be honest with ya. I’m not sure what you’re getting at – good or bad.
I will say though, I miss Sportsline. I thought it was the best sports highlight show in the city because they gave you Leafs, Raptors, Jays and Argos before anything else (i.e. – you wouldn’t get the Ducks and Thrashers before a story about the Raps)
- E. SmithMike – from what I’ve heard, no! NO truth.
For what it’s worth, I think it’d be a bad deal for Toronto anyway
- E. SmithEric,
I completely agree that a Howard-Bargnani swap would not make sense. We would be taking in talent, but with very questionable character. In the process giving up a multi-talented 7 footer, whom I haven’t given up on and I think he’s found an edge with Triano. And Howard’s shooting percentage is way down this year along with his boards.
- MikeAnd taking a brutal contract (Diop) while giving up a big asset in AP’s expiring deal
- E. SmithReally? I think Howard is one of the best 2 way wing player in the league right now, along with Gerald Wallace and Shawn Marion and he could be our shutdown defender in the perimeter to match up with the players like Wade, Bryant or James. He’s been known to be a bit of head case due to his off-court behaviour but I think he’s upside heavily outweighs the negativity.
- shootermckhow cute, a moon baby
- TomGfromBramptonBob McCowan is a classic…one quick story about him: he had Rob Babcock on the radio, Babcock refused to comment on any trade rumours or discuss anything (at the time I believe it was the whole Vince thing, Alston/Mitchel, etc…the Bobcat hung up on him halfway through the interview because he was frustrated that Babcock wouldn’t answer any of the question and after he hung up on him, stated ‘I will be here a lot longer than you will!’ That was classic!!
- Mr. TSeeing some of Colangelo’s moves lately, Rob Babcock’s GM reign needs some revision upwards?
- Chas CalzThis will be an interesting game to say the least…and on many levels. Down 3 starters (though one inconsistent) and Graham on the starting 5. Glad I will be able to see this one!
To all the others out there without TSN2…check your local pubs etc. They usually have it and are willing to donate one tv to you!
Congrats to the new Moon family!
