Nuggets @ Raptors
Final Score:
114-107, Nuggets
“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- CHAUNCEY BILLUPS
18 points
7 assists
3 rebounds
7/7 FT
“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- NENE
21 points
7 rebounds
3 assists
8/12 FG
4/5 FT
Shout-out to the Raptors:
- ANDREA BARGNANI
26 points
6 rebounds
5 blocks
2 steals
Stats that stood out:
- Points in the paint: 50-34 Nuggets
- Raptors give up 61 second-half points to the Nuggets
- Jose Calderon: 11 assists and 18 points … but an uncharacteristic 5 turnovers
Thumbs Up:
- Bargnani. He stepped up in the absence of J.O. and had a BIG game in the front court
Thumbs Down:
- Bench scoring. Yes, Toronto was undermanned without Jason Kapono and Jermaine O’Neal, but the Nuggets bench outscored the Raptors 36-17
Smith says:
- “The Raptors have dug quite a hole in 2008 - let’s hope 2009 brings a more consistent effort.”
Jones says:
“It’s going to take more discipline to overcome the deficiencies in the line up.”
“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 10 of 24 from 3PT range
Next game:
- Rockets @ Raptors
– Friday January 2 2009 - Tune in just after 7:00pm Eastern for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups
E. Smith
Missed the post-game show? You can listen to it here:

To the guy who was “first up” on tonite’s post-game radio show…I think his name was Harar or Zahar or something like that:
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
Your passion, intelligence for the game, and candid nature was crystal clear and you did a perfect job in expressing the opinion of many Raptors fans.
Bryan Colangelo, and this team’s, honeymoon is OVER!! We are no longer at a point where BC needs to really shape this team — that opportunity is long gone. Once again, as he showed in Phoenix, he is way over his head with respect to building a competitive team in today’s NBA.
With regard to the players, their standards must be astonishingly low, given their reactions to losing games.
The attitude of this team stinks.
I am embarassed to support management and will be hard pressed to sign up for what would have been my 10th year as a Toronto Raptors season seat holder.
- brentoHappy New Year! Raptor fans.
- TomGfromBramptonI think I’ll post this before all the negatives drown me out today.
Bargnani was a positve if only in the absence of JO. At least there was no collapse, they just lost to a better executing team…again.
Keep your heads up Raps and we’ll try to pull out a win…any win against Houston tomorrow. Get Yao in early foul trouble and we have a shot.
- GaryGet some proper bench players cause it’s very upsetting to see no effort. O’Neal, Bosh & Calderon are holding their ground and where in the blue hell is everyone else? Pissed off right on what I’m seeing.
- StevenIf they don’t win against Denver or Orlando, they’re dead. 11 games below .500, 14th place, no young talent, blow it up
- blizzEric…since I never get to call in (always busy), im going to give my logic here and maybe see a comment from you…People are hating on the raptors (and rightly so)…But everyone is saying trade bosh, barney, oneal, parker….for who? ohh gerald wallace, shawn marion (c’mon)…most of these “hockey” fans dont know what they are talking about…honestly i’d rather not trade ANY of these guys JUST TO end up getting the 7th or 8th seed, and running into cleveland or boston…Either way we’d be where we were last year (first round knockout)…People should just chill and ride out the year…Heres why…maybe we continue to suck…and get a top 10 pick (draft a wing we need), and the last I checked Bosh had one more season to decide whether he wanted to leave…Also why are people worried?…he’d get the best money option from us, AND he has an TOP TEN PG in calderon to play with (how many teams can offer that?…and you know what? oneals 24 million is off the books in 2010, so maybe he can entice some big named wing to sign…PEOPLE should just be patient until ONEALS contract is off our books (because that cash gives us A LOT of OPTIONS)…And as for Barney there’s flashes there, and I think hes close to “getting it”…so people RELAX, STOP BOOING THE RAPTORS, DONT HATE ON BOSH, and LIVE LIFEEEE!!!PEACEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
- RapsFanBargnani woke up and decided to play…and look what happens!
- AndreaBut what’s going on with JO? He is out with right knee problems (and yes he did fall on it against GSW), but he left THAT game with “flu-like symptoms”, no real mention of the knee at that point…
happy new year
- ginomassariI loved the Raptors.
They we a growing concern.
I had seasons tickets for two years. I went to almost every home game.
We have many good peices that are of little value to us. We could get lots for Bosh. He will probably leave for nothing. Kapono,Parker and Moon on the right team could do wonders. Who do we trade?
We have good peices but a disfunctional team. We just have to rethink what type of team we want and how to fit it. I was gulity in believing in the modern team. I want toughness.
I think it is stupid to cut a Jay Triano. He has an impossible job. He inherited a nightmere. Lots of talent. No glue.
