8/10 FG

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:

11/20 FG

Stats that stood out:
- Rebounding:  49-37 Raptors
- 26 points off turnovers (13) for Golden State.  They scored on EVERY Raptor turnover
- Jose Calderon tied a caeer-high with 16 assists.  He had 21 points and 6 rebounds as well

Thumbs Up:
- Offensive rebounding … 20-6 for Toronto.  Golden State is the #1 offensive rebounding team in the league.

Thumbs Down:
- 5 shots on 2 possessions late in the ball game that could have seen Toronto tie or take the lead and they missed all 5.  Jason Kapono had 3 of those shots (he finished 4 of 12 (including 3 of 9 from long distance))

Smith says:
- “7 games below .500 … who saw this coming.  Toronto has got a tough road ahead now with 3 straight at home against Denver, Houston, and Orlando.  If you’re not careful, you could be 10 games below .500 before ya know it.  Who saw THAT coming?”

Jones says:
“Toronto has got to do a better job of contesting shooters.  They’re protecting the paint well, but they have to get out to contest shots.”

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 10 of 26 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Nuggets @ Raptors
– Wednesday December 31 – Tune in just after 7:00pm Eastern for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Everyone needs to realize that this team is not good enough as everyone thought. Especially Colangelo.
    Lets look at the reality:
    1. Bargniani is a complete bust for #1 overall pick and if you can’t accept that, join Colangelo.
    2. We cannot defend and we will not learn how to defend until we get good defensive players.
    3. No wing players. We have to get wing players because Moon obviously will never have the courage to go to the basket in his career. Anthony Parker is way too old.
    4. No creative player. Nobody can create their own shot on this team and penetrate the defence. We aren’t getting far when you have Calderon dribbling on one spot until the shot clock is at 6 sec.
    5. Triano is obviously not good enough. We have to admit that.

This isn’t something that is just coming out of frustration. Everyone has to admitt that moves need to be made. We have regressed significantly in the last 3 years.

I’ve been saying this right here for about a year now that Parker is too old and has tonnes of weaknesses in his game and should be traded if possible. Him and Kapono missed about 1,000 open shots last night. Parker has lost a step this year and is a major liablity on both ends of the floor. I am anticipating some major changes in the next couple of weeks. If the Raps lose the next three home games then making the playoffs would be highly unlikely. Let’s prepare for 2009/2010 season by getting rid of some mediocre players or else Bosh is gone. It’s time to panic and time for immediate action.

Another disheartening loss. No meaningful contributions beyond Boosh and Calderone.

If they go 1-2 or 0-3 on the homestand, talk of a written off season will raise it’s head.

Coangelo will have to make a “change-for-the-sake-of-change” trade and that’s too bad for this group of under acheivers.

They’ll need to go 2-1 against quality opponents on the homestand to avoid this imo.

It is what it is…We have to cheer the team in Red and black, We can not boo and hope it changes. Bryan Colangelo is not a GM like ROb Babcock! The players aren’t showing up and saying “Let’s lose by 20 points!” We got to Be Loud and make them know we got their backs in tough times not just good times!!

I agree with Post Number 2. This team is just not that good. With the arrival of O’Neal I expected us to be a better defensive and rebounding team. So far we are not. Scoring and rebounding from the 2 and 3 is virtually non-existant. There has been some discussion that the team should run more. It is tough to run when you don’t rebound very well and quite frankly the team is not all that athletic to be able to run in the first place. This team is probably no better than a 500 team with its current makeup and there are no quick fixes other than a very high draft pick in good draft year.

Blow it up?? The team has already collapsed!! Let’s rationally analyze our options. The truth is Colangelo will not able to get anything significant back in a trade unless he gives up something significant, i.e. Bosh or Calderon…everyone else on this team has little value on the market right now. I’m sure there are teams that would like a Kapono on there team but I highly doubt they’re offering anything of value. The reality is, we seriously need to consider trading Bosh. As crazy as it seems (and I know I’ll probably get some backlash for insisting it) but right now is when he is most valuable on the market and we’ll probably get a decent return. If we could package Bosh with a couple of other players off of our roster and in return recieve 1 very good player (perferably wing) an above average player (rebounder/center); a back-up for Jose and a draft pick for Bosh (and whatever else would need to be included for the deal to make salaries even out) I would do it in a heart-beat. If such a deal can be done, the team is not necessarily rebuilding but restructuring. Keeping Jose/Oneal…bringing in two starters from the trade…I really think this is our only option…making minor adjustments just won’t cut it!!! What do you think???

To take the drastic step of trading Chris Bosh, you would need a Chris Paul and Peja Stojakovic (plus the bits to make a deal work), at a minimum. You could then trade Jose Calderon (plus ?) for a top Wing, and trade Andrea Bargnani (plus ?) for another top Wing. WHY STOP NOW?

This downward trend for the Raptors came not long after Bosh started ranting and raving about himself being considered for league MVP.

This team was playing great at that time but all of a sudden when they started thinking “out loud” about how good they thought they were – the wheels fell off “big time”.

Success is built on – knowing your place, doing your best, working hard, playing hard and most important of all – keeping your mouth shut.

All and all the Raps are fitting in very well with the rest of the pro teams in Toronto.

There will be no Bosh trade as long as Coangelo thinks the pieces are basically here but underachieving. And there shouldn’t be.

TOTALLY agree on the MVP talk being way premature. Bosh should remember to stay humble until he deserves it and even then try to be the rare NBA exception and stay humble even when he does deserve MVP consideration.

All the “my team” stuff may be true but sounded arrogant when it comes from your own lips.

There will be some more minor-mid tweaking but no Bosh/Calderone/O’Neil inclusions.

Happy New Year Raps. An unexpected win tonight will provide more time if you value your playmates.

Bob from Burlington makes a good point…it shows how selfish Bosh is and how he puts personal accomplishments before team goals…a good leader would talk about making the playoffs and winning a championship, etc. Bosh wants to be MVP, avg. 28 points a game and shoot threes at end of games to pad his stats…Richard: are you being sarcastic?? If the raps could recieve a package similar to the one that the Lakers recieved in the Shaq deal, i.e. three good players and draft pick, than BC should do it!!! Bosh is a nice player but he will never be a superstar…either we need to bring a capable wing player that can create shots for himself and others, or we trade Bosh, IMO!

And it shows that Mr. T you forget the 3 Italians are destroying this roster. You keep Bosh and fire Colangelo & Maurizio Gherardini and rid of Bargnani from this roster. Unfortunetly you fail to realize that those 3 are the cause to this ball club.
