Sunday December 14 2008 - 4:03pm Eastern

Hornets @ Raptors

Final Score:
99-91, Hornets

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- PEJA STOJAKOVIC
10 points
4 rebounds

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- DAVID WEST
29 points
9 rebounds
10/16 FG

Shout-out to the Raptors:
- CHRIS BOSH
25 points
8 rebounds
6 assists
13/15 FT

Stats that stood out:
- Raptors commit only 10 turnovers in the game
- New Orleans and Toronto combine for 57 3-points field goal attempts
     (Hornets:  12/33; Raptors:  8/24)
- Only 2 fast-break points for the Raptors

Thumbs Up:
- The Big Three stepped up:  Jose Calderon (22 points), Chris Bosh (25 points), Jermaine O’Neal (19 points)

Thumbs Down:
- But outside of The Big Three, everyone else struggled.  In fact, the ‘wings’ for Toronto (Moon, Graham, Parker, Kapono) combine to shoot 8 for 32 (25%)

Smith says:
- “On paper, few probably thought the Raps would get this game anyway.  But after losing the Hornets, Toronto has to take care of business against the Nets and Mavericks.  They can’t afford to fall TOO far below the Mendoza line.”

Jones Says:
“The Raptors have to take their hats off to the Hornets - who beat them from the outside.  Toronto has talked about packing the lane and forcing opponents to shoot from the outside, and that’s what the Hornets did.”

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 8 of 24 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Nets @ Raptors
– Monday December 15 - Tune in at 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Great game, too bad the raps couldn’t pull it out. I was pleased with the movement on the floor. If couple of the shots went in we would be talking about raptors W.

Looks like Bosh is beginning to suffer from VC syndrome, i.e. falling in love with his shot and forgetting to take the ball to the basket…the way he collapsed to the floor after he was fouled by Posey was Cartesque! J-Train, coach of the year! Joey G, MVP!

Jake Voskuhl, that’s the best we could get?!?

Also want to comment that it seems as if coach Triano really wants the best players out there for the sake of winning (can’t blame him) because Bargnani pretty much rode the bench in the 2nd half. What has happened with him? What’s that quote that Jack likes to say?

In the first year, you don’t know what to do. In the second year, you should know what NOT to do. In the third year….you had better know! Well….not sure anymore with Bargnani.

Media seems to be allowing Triano a honeymoon period , commenting on all the changes he’s makingto Raps but as someone who felt Sam’s firing was premature and unfair, :
    Sam was 8-9
    Jay is 2-4

Eric, what game were you watching? Posey with his 6/10 3pt shots & 20pts was the reason NO won the game.

Bosh, Bargnani, and the disapearing wings, who could’nt make a shot, were the reason Raptors lost.

even though we lost, it is soo obvious that our team is playing now with some kind of structure and goal on the defensive end. They are actually playing D with what seems like a ‘gameplan’ designed specifically for the personell and tendancies of the other team as seen on game tape from previous matches. This concept was completely foreign to the Sam Mitchell who just told everyone their one on one man assignments and setem loose. Loving life without Sam. Who would have thought studying tape and making a gameplan actually works ? LOL

    John -

I don’t know what you’re talking about. “what game was I watching”?? Not sure what that is in reference to.

If it’s RE: the Players(s) of the game … while Posey was outstanding (a) David West hammered Toronto as well - so, take your pick, and (b) the Fazoolis player of the game is the player that joins us on our post-game show — it’s not necessarily the player who had the most outstanding game or whatever. It’s a sponsored thing. Posey was doing New Orleans TV — the Hornets’ PR gave us Peja to talk to.

Chas - you’re seriously blaming the media for not jumping on Jay after SIX games?? Come on.

“Mr. T” … Bosh went to the line FIFTEEN times yesterday! I think your comments/comparison is a little off

Eric, No .it’s common for media to give new coach a grace period … jury is out on Triano who, after all, had input with Sam for his whole Rap career
