Wednesday November 19 2008 – 10:10pm Eastern

I’ll have the usual recap later on tonight, but for now … in case you missed it …

The Raps beat the Heat, 101-95.

Toronto withstood a 40-point effort from Dwyane Wade to get the win and move above .500 … at 6-5.

Jermaine O’Neal was outstanding with 16 points and 17 rebounds.  Andrea Bargnani rebounded from a poor performance in Orlando … finishing with a team-high 25 points.  And Anthony Parker scored 19 points – all in the second half – to lead the Raptors to victory.

Toronto hosts New Jersey on Friday at the ACC

UPDATE:  11:15pm Eastern – Wednesday November 19 2008

Raptors @ Heat

Final Score:
101-95, Raptors

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- JERMAINE O’NEAL
16 points
17 rebounds
8/17 FG

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- ANTHONY PARKER
19 points
6 rebounds
6/12 FG

Shout-out to the Heat:
- DWYANE WADE
40 points
11 assists
16/30 FG
5 blocks

Stats that stood out:
- Andrea Bargnani:  25 points (team high), 4 rebounds, 9/15 FG
- 13 turnovers for Toronto … after committing 20+ in each of the last two games
- 9/13 3PT FG for the Raps (including 8 of 8 in the 2ND half)
- Fast break points:  18-3, Miami

Thumbs Up:
- The Raptors withstood a 40-point effort from Dwyane Wade and found a way to win on the road; staying above .500 as they head back home.

Thumbs Down:
- The Raptors couldn’t put the foot on the throat of the Heat … giving up double-digit leads 3 times (10, 11, and 17) … before coming back to win by 6.

Smith says:
- “This was a big win for Toronto.  You didn’t want to go home under .500 if you were the Raptors.  And it was nice to see Andrea Bargnani rebound from his poor outing against the Magic, to lead his team in scoring – looking aggressive and assertive all night.”

Jones Says:
- “Another strong performance from Jermaine O’Neal, and now that his offense is coming around, the 3-point shooters should continue to get good looks.  Toronto was 8 of 8 in the second half from 3PT range.”

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 9 of 13 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Nets @ Raptors

….wouldn’t it be funny if your team has a player that scores 40 points, flat, like not 41, or 42, but 40 flat. For this season, that’s like the automatic lose mark? I know it’s just been two games and I don’t remember any 40 point efforts this season, so it would be pretty funny…..

The reason the Raptors won was the offense. The reason the offense was clicking was Calderon starting, and Will Solomon back where he belongs.

Somebody better give Will the facts of life regarding Ref calls on rookies vs DWade, & complaining to said Ref’s.

I’m really liking Andrea at the 3 starting with Bosh and JO. And Will Solomon is a terrible basketball player, he needs to be on the bench and Roko needs to be the number 2 pg.

I agree with John19. Will Solomon needs a crash course on “refereeing 101″ in NBA. Every time a call goes against him he argues to the refs as if he has already secured a spot in the Hall of Fame. He should’ve been told by now that no matter what happens, he’ll rarely get a call in his favor against a star player.

Great victory, JO is finally back. If he averages 15 points and 10 boards for the season, it’d be huge.

hopefully Jose can continue to recover from this strain and get back to playing 38-40 minutes a night because I am even more worried about the back-up PG situation 11 games into the year than I was of the unknown before the season started.

Great game by JO. When have we EVER seen defense line this in Raptorland. Not even Oakley. Barg/Calderone picked it up on a night when Bosh seemed a bit tired- what a calming influence Jose is.

I disagree on Will Soloman though. He looked rushed and flustered the other day against Orlando’s pressure but he’s absolutely new to the league and needs time and Calderone’s tutoring. Roko is the future but for now, Soloman knows how to push the ball up the court faster and provides a different look to Jose’s slow half court game. Kind of like Ford to him last year.

Please, please please Raps, crush the boy Vince and the Nets tomorrow and all will be right in the world.

Oneal has been great. This guy just brings it at the defesive end. It is wearing off on the other bigs. When Parker and Andrea play well we win. It is that simple. When they struggle we will struggle. THis team is a consistent wing man away from competing with boston, cleveland, and detriot. No doubt. A vetern backup point would be great great as well. Damon, Earl, i would of said lindsay hunter, but he got signed
