Heat @ Raptors

Final Score:  107-96, Toronto

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- CHRIS BOSH
27 points
7 rebounds
2 blocks
7/15 FG
13/15 FT

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- JERMAINE O’NEAL
11 points
18 rebounds
2 blocks

Shout-out to the Heat:
- DWYANE WADE
29 points
8 assists
4 steals
3 rebounds
2 blocks
13/31 FG

Stats that stood out:
- Toronto withstood a 12-2 run late in the 4TH by Miami
- The Raptors out-scored Miami 57-42 in the 2ND half
- Will Solomon:  15 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds … starting in place of Jose Calderon

Thumbs Up:
- Rebounding.  Toronto finally got it done on the glass, out-rebounding Miami 52-35 (including 16 offensive boards)

Thumbs Down:
- Turnovers.  Toronto had 20.  Perhaps that’s a product of a new PG and a new starting 5 (Andrea Bargnani) though.

Smith says:
“The new starting five looked solid … with the big front line of Bargnani, Bosh, and O’Neal.  I’m sure we’ll see it again on Tuesday with Howard, Hedo, and Rashard Lewis.  We’ll see if Toronto can carry momentum from this win into that back-to-back though.”

Jones Says:
“Great 4TH quarter defense for the Raptors and while he wasn’t quite Jose Calderon, Will Solomon did a good job running the offense.”

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 6 of 17 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Raptors @ Magic
– Tuesday November 18 - Tune in at 7:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

Hey Eric - question for you.

I swear I’m not asking this to be a smartass, and it’s with all due respect to the Raptors’ sponsors. Honest.

But don’t you get a bit embarrassed telling a guy like Jermaine O’Neal, who makes $22 million per year, that he just won a free dinner at Alice Fazooli’s?

Maybe they should think about changing it to a free dinner for a lucky listener, “on behalf of the player of the game”. Keep the advertising connection, but give the dinner to someone who would appreciate it.

Just a thought. Keep up the great work.

JC … no, I really don’t … because the sponsors pay a lot of money for this privilege, and, the players actually go to the restaurant. Trust me, even when I’ve been in there, I’ve seen Bosh, Moon, Parker at various times. Vince Carter and Jerome Williams were regulars back in the day as well.

Interesting. Like I said, honestly not trying to stir up trouble.

I understand that part of the marketing strategy of the player of the game sponsorship is to advertise the fact that you never know if you’ll run into a Raptor player at the restaurant.

    Thanks for the reply.

Wow who saw this coming not me. Will a Double Double? Looking Forward to Videos from FLA. Pool Side with Jones and Smith as I likely watch snowflakes fall.

    Great and much needed win

TSN2 and Rogers…don’t every bother telling me you care about Raptor fans. The people that work for them like you and Paul care. But the guys in the suits could care less.

If this had been a Leaf game you would have protesters out side Rogers building with Pitch Forks.

WHEN IS BASKETBALL GOING TO GET SOME RESPECT.

I am getting to the point I don’t think it every will from the people in the suits.

Anyway all the best Eric save travels to Florida.

I am need of a way to edit my comments. I always screw up with a typo or some silly thing. Here is the clean version.

Eric, can you tell me why you hate trade rumors? I mean it generates a lot of debate and talk.

I don’t agree with your player of the game. CB played his game ok with 27 & 7, but the real POG was Will Solomon, with 34mins,4rb,11ast,1stl,& 15pts.
How many of you experts saw that & a win coming, without JC playing?

Because when you cut through it all Andrew, these are still human beings with families, etc. Despite the millions, they still have wives, lives, and folks that care about them. We shouldn’t be flippantly discussing where this guy or that guy is going. Plus, I’d rather deal in reality than fantasy; not just create wild scenarios and fantasy trade that’ll likely never happen.

Bosh was outstanding John - getting to the line 15 times and coming 2 points shy of Wade’s 30

But, really, who cares who I picked as “player of the game”. I still gave Solomon a shout-out in “stats that stood out” …

If it’d make you happy, I’d be quite fine with making Will the player of the game and bumping Bosh to ’stats that stood out’

    Thanks though man …

    Hey Eric
great game yesterday! happy to see the big front line of A.Bargnani,J.O’Neal and CB4…. teams in the NBA are in big trouble if they can build on this win..Even though Soloman played a great game, can’t wait to see J.Calderon back in the line up to see how they do…
Question for you Eric… How would Moon look at shooting guard? (Not that i think that Parker is a bad defender)Moon did a great job on Wade when he was guarding him and he did a great job on Paul Pierce in the Boston game ass well (I think it was Kapono guarding Pierce when he went on fire at the end to win the game) Raptors would be one the better defencive team in team with Moon in the lineup! What do you think?

The reason why it doesn’t matter who one person picks as player of the game is it could just as easily have been Oneil. When was the last time we saw rebounds falling like rain into Raptor hands. And CB is so consistent these days, it’s just another great game.

Let’s see how they hold up against Superman and the pther Orlando bigs this week and it could be good with Miami again and then “the hated one” comes in from NJ.

The Heat have nobody over 6′8″ in their regular rotation. We better dominate the glass. Let’s see how they do against the Magic, that will be a much better measuring stick.

It’ll be interesting if Mitchell starts Bargnani at the 3 against the Magic given how they undressed him in the playoffs. It’s one thing to check a guy that’s not bothering to make any offensive moves against you and another to guard Hedo.

Eric, tell Devlin to stop plugging Tim Hortons. They don’t need any free advertising.
