TSN2

Unfortunately, there was no last-minute, over-the-weekend deal cut between Rogers and TSN to bring TSN2 to the cable subscribers in Toronto.  Thus, Sunday’s game between the Raptors and Heat will not be seen in Toronto and throughout the GTA - unless you’re a satellite TV customer and/or not with Rogers.

I had said for weeks that I felt Raptors TV would try to find a way to simulcast Sunday’s game if TSN hadn’t yet worked out a deal with Rogers, but apparently that’s not happening either.  The Raptors and Heat will not be on Raptors NBA TV.

So your options for Sunday are:  Finding a friend (or a bar/restaurant) that isn’t a Rogers subscriber or better yet … tuning in to the FAN 590!  While I can appreciate that many of you at home would like to “see” the game - not just “hear” it - keep in mind that the FAN 590 is the only broadcaster in Toronto that airs all 82 games + playoffs (if necessary).  We’re you’re home for hoops for every game this year … even if you can’t always find the home on TV.

Jonesy and I will hit the air on Sunday with our pre-game show at 12:30pm, and we’ll have the tip just after 1:00pm

JOSE

The status of Jose Calderon for Sunday’s game is still up in the air.  He’s officially listed as “questionable”.

Calderon said at practice on Saturday that his hamstring was feeling better and that he hoped to play on Sunday but he will be a game-time decision.

If Calderon is sidelined against the Heat, Will Solomon will get the start for T.O. and Roko Ukic will back him up.

Calderon played in all 82 games for Toronto last year … and he appeared in 77 of 82 regular season games in 2006-07.

He is averaging 13.5 PPG, 9.0 ASST, and 2.8 REB this season.

JAWAI

While the Raptors have yet to officially confirm this, an Australian newspaper is reporting that Nathan Jawai will be sidelined for at least 6 more weeks with his cardiac issues.

Figures… I didn’t think TSN would be willing to just let RaptorsTV simulcast the game Sunday, as it would not put them in a good bargaining position. Why would Rogers pay for TSN2 if RapsTV can just simulcast all the games there. I’m really disapointed with how poorly this has been handled and believe that Raptors management or the media relations department should step in and make these two companies hammer out a deal. Things like this make you realize how unimportant we the consumer are, as opposed to the almighty dollar. We are just a bargaining chip.

I do have satellite but it still sucks that TSN does this. if this were a leafs game this would never happen and a tennis match over a Raptors game, what is TSN thinking.

Tom, I don’t know, but perhaps tennis draws more than the Raptors in terms of ratings? I really don’t know
