Wednesday November 12 2008 - 10:05pm Eastern

Sixers @ Raptors Final Score:  106-96, Philly

“Smith and Jones” Player of the Game:
- ELTON BRAND
25 points
8 rebounds
3 blocks
12/21 FG

“Alice Fazoolis” Player of the Game:
- ANDRE IGOUDALA
18 points
10 assists
9 rebounds

Shout-out to the Raptors:
- CHRIS BOSH
30 points
12 rebounds
10/15 FG

Stats that stood out:
- Toronto shot just 27% in the 1ST quarter
- Toronto had 9 turnovers in the 4TH quarter
- Fast break points:  19-7 Philly
- Jermaine O’Neal:  19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks
- Andre Miller:  18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 turnover

Thumbs Up:
- Aside from Philly?  And their great offense?  Well, from a Toronto perspective, the 1-2 punch of Bosh and O’Neal combined for 49 points and 23 rebounds.

Thumbs Down:
- Toronto’s defence.  Philly shot 53.8% for the game.  That’s not gonna cut it.  BAD night on D for T.O.

Smith says:
- “The wings gave nothing tonight.  Moon was 1 for 8.  Parker was 4 of 16.  Kapono was 1 of 3.  Ouch.

The 3-0 start to the season is out the window now.  The Raptors have lost 3 of the last 4 and they’ve dropped two straight at home.  They must get back on track against Miami on Sunday - against a much-improved Heat team.”

Jones Says:
- “The 1ST quarter tonight was almost like the “5TH quarter” of the Boston game.  Toronto had poor offensive execution, sub-pair defence, and they created a hole they could never climb out of.”

“V-Tech” 3-In-To-Win Give-Away:
The Raptors were 5 of 21 from 3PT range

Next game:
- Heat @ Raptors
– Sunday November 16 - Tune in at 12:30pm for the pre-game show and 1:00pm for the “Pizza Pizza” starting line ups

    hey eric,
a really bad game last night! I was looking at the boxscore and i was wondering why kapono is on the floor - knowing how good of a shooter he is - and more often than not he’s get limited shots? f or example, last night 30min, 3 shots. and how come moon doesnt stop shooting 3s? is it a coaching influence? and a quick suggestion, is it possible if you can give winning strategies before the tip off of the game? thanks and keep up the good work!

Eric you said it. Bosh or most big men in general don’t create their own shots. You also talk about throwing money at bosh too keep him. The raps would be wise to hold onto the dough for a sg or sf. With no bosh in the front court the raptors are still strong hint hint. BC won’t let him walk and i bet he won’t be here when his contract runs out.

well i’m not surprised, players can only do so much when the coach is predictable. i’m not knocking on mitchell, but i need to point something out. Leo Rautins on the telecast said it during the game, “mitchell PREACHES this every practice” i.e.) defense, moving the ball, right & wrong, so on and so on. here’s the problem, its being preached, not PRACTICED. it’s easy to remind someone of what they need to do, but getting them to do it and do it consistently comes down to coaching. thanks

Did anyone ever think that maybe the Defensive system Mitchell preaches is just mediocore at best. If u wanna play D get a Coach that knows what he’s doing, not to name but does Flip Saunders or Avery Johnson ring a Bell…

Why does it seem that everybody is trying to offer up excuses for the Raptors not playing well: its Andrea, its the defense, its the wing players. I’m sick an tired of it just skip the same-old-same-old news conferences full of Sam’s BS and show some heart and play some basketball!

Eric, maybe you missed something, with that 4th qtr meltdown happening with Calderon in the dressing room, and Solomon & Ukic struggling @ PG.

What has happened to AP, who is shooting 36.7%FG & 36.4%3FG

Raptors will not win without AP scoring unless Calderon can become a scoring PG, as he also has to be more aggressive and score more.

Well Eric, you said - and I agreed - in your preview that regarding AP, he might be the “make or break” guy for this season…if anything then last night’s game was proof of that thought.
