Letting a game slip away against the defending NBA champs isn’t what the raptors had in mind when wraping up their recent 3-game road swing, but despite that, Chris Bosh says he’s was encouraged to see his team step up their phsyical game.”It’s been tough in the past but you know, I’m proud of the guys, we answered” says Bosh. “We made shot after shot, but eventually they made more shots than we did. Especially with Paul (Pierce) being hot.”
Throught the first 7 games of the season, the Raptors have a winning record, and have only played 2 of those 7 at home..And while Mistakes were made on the raptors recent 3 game road trip, head coach sam mitchell says mistakes are fine, it’s what you do down the road to correct them. “We did a lot of things, we didn’t make plays, I’m proud of the way our guys played” says Mitchell. You’re paying a great basketball team, defending champions (Boston) and we had a great opportunity to beat them, and the message was just learn from our mistakes.
The recent loss to boston saw the improvement of Jermaine O’Neal who put up a season high 23 points, which should give Toronto more encouragement. The Raptors kick off a 2 game homestand beginning with Philadephia tomorrow night and ending on Sunday with Miami.

What in the world is Jose Calderon doing getting in the face of Kevin Garnett early in the 4th quarter????? Hey kid shut your mouth and ease of the throttle before someone else punches you in that pretty little face of yours. How about you do Something in this league before making a piddly @ss jump shot andd then run over to tell Garnett about it. Garnett’s a hall of famer, it’s no coincidence that shortly after that episode Boston came back and buries the Raptors. Toronto is not even in Boston’s stratosphere, we’ll see if you guys can actually WIN a playoff series before you talk smack to the World Champs OK????
- Blair MartinGarnett = Cry Baby
- Mr. AnonomysCalderon = World Champion
dumb point Blair.Im glad jose got in garnetts face cuz the only reason kg was taunting jose was because he’s a European.
- kamranHey Blair,
What did you want Jose to do? Kiss him?
- naskoAnd just so you know Jose, at this stage has won a lot more than Garnett. Basketball is not only NBA and Garnett, for all his greatness had won only 3 rounds in the play offs before last season. So ye, go punch someone on the face now.. :)
Since when did the nba become classified as a “world” league. Boston are the “NBA” champs you chump! This is the type of ignorance we need less of. Get your head out of your @ss!
- cjHey Blair,
I was glad that Jose stood up for himself. KG was in his face waving his finger, (should have been called on a tech) and disrespecting Jose. I’m glad he showed some intensity. I mean if it was KG doing we say ‘Wow, he’s so intense’ but because Jose did it we think it’s pointless. Truse me, KG doesn’t need motivation to step up his play and Jose didn’t lose the game for us. Costly turn overs in the 4th (O’Neil) cost us the game.
- Jimmy TsatsasBlair, if your a celtic fan, then i kindly ask you to just leave and dont talk about something you know nothing of. if your a raptor “fan”, then you are just another person jumping on a celtic bandwagon that i feel sorry for.
Either you are blind or just plain ignorant and biased. it was obvious that KG was the one starting to talk smack. Jose kept his cool for a while but come on, KG was acting like he was in grade 2!
and last thing, i have no clue what your post had anything to do with the blog.
- BehzadBlair: I’m totally confused by your comment.. were you really watching the game last night? Jose only started yapping to KG because KG was all in his face finger-waging and taunting him which he should have received a tech for. We should be happy a Raptor actually stood up for themselves and didn’t just sit back and take it like a bunch of Nancys like they have in the past. I also liked the O’Neal stare down on Perkins.
- AmandaBlair Jose did the RIGHT THING and why are you talking about Jose JUMP SHOT
ARE YOU IN THE NBA?
So don’t talk!
- RAPS FANI don’t understand how the best Player on the raptors does not take one shot in the 4th quarter. What did Boston do? They gave the ball to their best player in Paul Pierce and what do we do. We let our franchise player run around and not get him looks because he is being guarded by last years defensive player of the year. WHAT?
when it comes down to crunch time you live and die by your best player. i dont understand why Sam decided against that last night.
I think Dennis Green said it best “we had em and we let em off the hook”
Stephan
- StephanThe game ended up a three point shoot-out. How many threes did moon hit? Why is moon playing outside?
- Rob from brantfordThe Finger wave should have been a tech … KG got two calls reversed and seemed to have more clout than the officials what a joke.
- Jerthe nba officiating is a joke. its either being tampered with by betting, which has already been proven, or by the NBA itself. the refs were clearly making ridiculous calls in favour of boston so that the home team crowd would be entertained and a better product, in the form of a closer game, is put on the floor. its stupid… let the better team win the game, and the raps were the better team until the refs shifted the momentum and got the crowd back in it. i understand that the home team usually gets the calls, but this was so obviously excessive. theyre all crooks!
- NickThe fix is in …
- MehketYou guys can have your say, the fact of the matter is right after Calderon bitched at KG, the Celtics blew the doors off of the Raps. You can say anything you want about my opinion, that’s cool, but I played basketball in small college (not the NBA but still) so I know that you shouldn’t wake a sleepin giant. The Raptors did and they paid for it end of story. Boston are the WORLD CHAMPS (since when did we stop recognizing the NBA champs as this?) and they did what good teams do when pushed, they won. Calderon while a decent player (though hardly an all star) should know better, Hell Mitchell should too!! Yes I’m a Celtics fan from back in the late 70′s through to today, but all of you who think The Raptors can beat Boston consistantly or in a playoff series….are dreaming. Thanks.
