There’s a chance that Allen Iverson won’t play tonight against the Raptors.

If I were a betting man, I’d say this will all work itself out and A.I. will be on the floor at the ACC … but … here’s the deal …

Chauncey Billups hasn’t yet cleared passed his physical in Denver.  There are even some that question whether or not he’ll actually pass the test.  I highly doubt that though.

But, anyway, until Billups is given the okay by the Nuggets, Iverson can’t suit-up for the Pistons.

Iverson was in Toronto this morning – at the Pistons shoot-around – but he did not take part.

He said he was up at 5:00am yesterday to catch a flight to Detroit and then was up at 6:00am this morning to hop on a short flight from Detroit to Toronto.  So he admitted that he’s VERY tired right now … but still hopefull that he can get on the floor tonight against the Raptors.

The big question now is if/when Billups is cleared, will it be in time for A.I. to get the green light for tonight?  Denver is in Golden State right now … so … there’s a 3-hour time difference to deal with as well.

Stay tuned.

If I was Billup’s I would not be putting myself out to help Dumars, who traded him 1 yr after signing a 4/5yr contract to finish his career in Detroit.

If Billups doesn’t pass the physical, is the trade off?

I see this as a move that is a lot like the one the Raptors made for O’Neal. You see what Iverson can do and if it fails you get a ton of cap space and you can re-stock in the Pistons case a team that is getting a bit long on the tooth in age.

Good move for Joe D in Detroit.

Much like when Toronto traded Alvin Williams for Danny Fortson … yes … the trade would be off if a player doesn’t pass his physical

And it’s not about Billups doing any favours for Joe D. He HAS to take his physical. Period. Plus, Denver wants it done asap as well … ’cause they’ll want him to play tonight against the Warriors.

No I don’t. Nash won’t be up for free agency for a couple of years. Then … maybe. But Bosh will still be the top priority

I was thinking about the need for a wing player and how close I think we would be if we could get a consistent SG/SF threat that could create his own shot. Was looking throught some lower echelon teams. What abut Kevin Martin? A Bargnani/Graham swap would work salary wise. Thoughts???

Also, Cuttino Mobley??? might be of some help as well.

I’m really not a big fan of rumors or fantasy trades, but, Dave … I don’t think there’s any way Sacramento gives up on Kevin Martin. He’s one of the top scorers in the game.

And Mobley – at this stage of his career – would not be much help.

Imagine if the Raptors had drafted Andre Iguodala instead of Rafael Araujo. That would’ve filled a gaping hole offensively and provided a good wing defender for when players like Kobe come to town.
