Sunday September 21 2008 - 11:15pm Eastern
Well, I’m back. The 2-week tour of Paris, Geneva, Rome, and Venice is complete.
I was at home in time to see the final 5 minutes of the Buffalo/Oakland game … and was happy to see my Bills improve to 3-0! And with the Patriots losing to the Dolphins, take a look at who is in first place in the AFC East … ‘DA BILLS!
Anyway, Europe was great and I’ll be blabbing about it quite a bit this week but for now … I’ve got something else for you before I hit the sheets (I mean, it feels like 5:15am for me right now — I gotta get to bed) …
D-LEAGUE in TORONTO (Sorta)
This release was just passed on to me by some friends over at the Raptors. If you’re a serious baller in Toronto, the GTA … or anywhere in the province or country … this could be your “chance” at making it to the next level. Check it out:
The Idaho Stampede announce they will be hosting open player tryouts for the upcoming season. The camp will be held in Toronto , Canada on October 5-6 at Humber College . Tryouts start promptly at 6 p.m. on the 5th.
“This is such an invaluable opportunity for our team and a great way to fill our roster,” said Stampede Head Coach, Bryan Gates. “We are thrilled to be heading to Toronto and it would not be possible without the help from the Raptors organization.”
Open tryouts offer athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Stampede coaching staff, including head coach Bryan Gates. Players will compete to earn an invitation to the Stampede’s official Training Camp, which is scheduled to begin November 14.
During the 07-08 open player tryouts, both Ernest Scott and Jason Ellis earned a spot on the Stampede roster. Scott played in 40 games with the Stampede, averaging 7.9 points per game and 3.5 rebounds. Ellis, a former BSU standout played in 37 games averaging 5.4 points per game and 5.1 rebounds.
“Our club is excited to be partnered with the Idaho Stampede,” said Toronto Raptors Director of Player Personnel, Jim Kelly. “This is the perfect chance for many Canadian players to show the Development League and the NBA their talent. We will be watching.”
Registration forms and waivers are available at www.idahostampede.com or the Idaho Stampede office, located at 233 S. Capitol Blvd., Suite 100 , Boise , ID 83702
I’ll be back some time on Monday.

- E. SmithHey Eric Nice to have you back among us. I look forward to you european vacation tales. I have to admit the photo of you in a mail room on Raps.com version of the blog made me laugh. My Cowboys are also 3-0. It is going good for both our football squads. So our you going up to Ottawa for camp I would guess? What are you most interested in seeing as far as perseason and camp goes?
Once again welcome back you are always a voice I like to hear from about the Raptors and it has been missed.
- James BorbathHey Eric, welcome back. There has been rumours in the last few months about a new alternate jersey for the raptors. I don`t know if you heard about this; but its a black jersey with red trims. Anyways, there has been a recent showing of NBA live 09 where Raptors are playing the Thunder and the Raptors are wearing there new alternate jersey. My question is why haven`t they introduced this jersey on TV or their website
- Jeeyet..hope you hear anything.
Later.
