I posted some of these comments in my column/blog on Raptors.com yesterday, but only here, on the FAN website do you get EVERY word from Jay Triano on Chris Bosh.

The Raptors’ assistant coach weighed-in on Bosh’s opening 6 games of the Olympics as the American men get set for the gold medal game against Spain on Sunday.

Here’s what Triano had to say about CB4:

ON BOSH’S DEFENSE AND OVERALL PLAY:  “Chris has been very good so far in this tournament.  He is running the floor very well, and has been extremely active defensively.  He has been playing the 5 spot almost entirely this summer.  He has finished plays at the basket and I think has been their best rebounder.  The most impressive thing has been his communication.  It shows how much confidence and attention he has at the defensive end.  They went with smaller big’s who could get out and be active when guarding the screen and roll situations, and he has not disappointed.  He is out quick and low, and if he has to switch he has been able to keep the smaller players in front of him.”

ON THE CONFIDENCE BOSH HAS GAINED IN BEIJING AND HOW THAT COULD TRANSLATE INTO BIG THINGS FOR THE RAPTORS THIS SEASON:  “I hope that this type of leadership can carry over to the Raptors season.  If he can be a leader with the best players in the NBA, well that has to give him the confidence that he can do the same when he gets back with the Raptors.  This team will win with good defense.  The Celtics won last year with good defense.  Hopefully the point has been sold to Chris and he can sell the same to him teammates in Toronto.”

Enjoy the game later tonight / early tomorrow morning.  I’m sticking with the U.S. as my pick to win it all.  Without Jose Calderon, I don’t think Spain can get it done.

I enjoyed his comments on Bosh and everything to do with CBC’s Basketball coverage. I am excited to find out what this experience of Bosh winning a Gold Medal is going to mean for the Raptors. When Vince Carter did I don’t think it meant anything. But the way Bosh used his skills on Defense and Rebounding I think it will be something that he remembers. I also think Sam Mitchell will remind him DAILY IF HE FORGETS. Can’t wait to get the season going.
