It’s taken a while … but … it’s finally official …
This was just released by the Raptors media relations staff:
The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday they have signed free-agent guard-forward Hassan Adams to a two-year contract. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed. Adams attended the Raptors’ free agent camp held June 20-22 at Air Canada Centre.
Adams, 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, played in Italy last season. He signed in November with Ignis Draghi Novara (Lega2), where he averaged 20.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.0 steals in 12 games. In March, he moved to Siviglia Wear Teramo (SerieA) and averaged 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in eight games.
Adams was selected 54th overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets. He appeared in 61 games with New Jersey in the 2006-07 season, averaging 2.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 8.1 minutes. He averaged 4.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 18.3 minutes in eight starts. He led the Nets in scoring twice, in steals five times and in blocks four times. He posted career highs of 16 points and eight rebounds at Boston on November 29, 2006. He saw action in six postseason games with the Nets.
The native of Los Angeles averaged 14.0 points and 5.4 rebounds during his four years at the University of Arizona . He earned first-team All-Pac-10 honours as a senior, averaging a career-best 17.5 points. He finished his collegiate career as the only player in Pac-10 history to record 1,800 points, 700 rebounds and 200 steals.
Adams will participate for the Raptors’ entry in the Las Vegas Summer League (July 11-19).

Seems like a lot of waiting for a guy that I would say is O.K? How come Adams gets not press conference? Where is the LOVE!!! Oh well hopefully he can do more as opposed to say Maceo Baston. I am considering erasing him from Michgan History Books much like the Fab 5 titles. Swirsky would not be pleased but Michigan has standards I mean that was bad.
- James BorbathHonestly though, think about this:
This is what John Hollinger said of Hassan Adams:
“To cut Adams in order to pull this move off seems shortsighted at best. I don’t want to overstate things here — he wasn’t going to be the next Dr.J or anything. But he was primed to be a very effective energy guy off the bench, essentially a 6-foot-4-inch version of the Knicks’ Renaldo Balkman. In his rookie year after he was New Jersey’s second-round choice in 2006, Adams shot 55.6% from the field and averaged an impressive-for-a-guard 6.1 rebounds per 40 minutes. He can’t shoot from outside, but his running and energy were effective enough that he still averaged a point every three minutes, which is decent production for a reserve.
All told, his Player Efficiency Rating (PER, my per-minute rating of a player’s statistical effectiveness) of 12.8 was solid for a reserve, especially one in his rookie season — and especially one competing with the likes of Wright (8.2) and Bernard Robinson (7.8) for playing time.
But don’t feel bad for Adams — some smart team will nab him real fast, probably for much more than the Nets were scheduled to pay him. Instead, feel bad for Kidd and Carter, who just lost one of the few potentially productive supporting players for this coming season.
And most of all feel bad for Nets fans, who now must lament that their team gave up their remaining space under the luxury tax to sign a fading backup center and effectively traded up one of their most promising young players to make the deal. It’s just the latest glaring example of Thorn’s inability to surround his stars with the talent necessary to return this team to the conference’s elite, and I’m not sure he can make enough big-picture moves to undo the damage”.
Looks like we are one of the smart teams that picked him up.
It’s a good news and a good signing. Hassan Adams brings speed and energy coming off the bench. He’s the productive supporting player. In my opinion, I rather have Adams back up Calderon as the 2nd PG or SG, and have Roko Ukic to be the third PG, SG, or SF - cause he is 6 foot 5.
I certainly have high expectations for Hassan Adams. I remember him playing against us during the playoffs two years ago, and he was just giving Ford a hard time to guard him.
- Max MaGood article.
- marioCan’t remember much about Adams but hopefully the article proves correct and the Raptors get an energy reserve player who can help the team in their run for the championship.

Go Raptors!!!
