Though the Raptors organization cannot officially confirm this deal until next week - when the NBA lifts it’s moratorium on signings and trades - Jose Calderon has officially re-signed with Toronto.
Calderon posted this message on his personal website ( www.josemanuelcalderon.com ) earlier today:
“Early this morning, through my agents, I reached a preliminary agreement with the Toronto Raptors. I want to thank Bryan Colangelo, Maurizio Gherardini, Sam Mitchell and all of the Raptors family for the confidence that they have placed in me. I am sure that together we are going to achieve big things in the future.”
With Calderon locked up - probably for $7-$8 million per year on a 4-5 year deal (my own guesstimation) - the future is looking brighter for the Raps with the Spanish guard in place and the 1-2 punch of Chris Bosh and Jermaine O’Neal up front.
