This is all you need to know about LA’s historic collapse in Game 4:
- LA was up by 24 points in the 1st Half.
- With 6:04 to go in the 3rd Quarter, Boston was still down by 20 points.
- Boston outscores LA 21-3 in the final 5 minutes of the 3rd to pull within 2 going into the 4th.
- Final tally on the 3rd Quarter: 31-15 Boston. Another dominant 3rd for the Celts.
- At the 4:07 mark, Boston takes its first lead of the game off an 18-foot jumper form Eddie House.
- House finished the game with 11 points in just under 25 minutes; filling in for a hobbled Rajon Rondo.
- LA falls down by as many as 5 but a spinning lay up by Kobe Bryant pulls the Lakers to within 2 with about 1:30 to go.
- Celtics hero-of-the-day, James Posey, nails another 3-pointer (he was 4 of 8) to put Boston back up by 5.
- Posey scored 18 points in just over 25 minutes.
- Ray Allen iced the cake by making a fool out of Sasha Vujacic; undressing the youngster on a dribble drive.
- Allen finished with 19 points, 9 rebounds (NINE!) and a full 48-minutes of action.
- Paul Pierce SHUT DOWN Bryant with some stifling “D”. Bryant was just 6 of 19 overall … with 17 points.
- Celtics beat the Lakers 97-91 … holding LA to only 33 second-half points.
- Boston registered the largest comeback in Finals history.
- No team in NBA history ever trailed by more than 15 after 1 quarter … and then come back to win a game. Boston was down 21 after the 1st!
- Teams that have led 3-1 in the Finals are 28-0 all time.
It’s now do or die for LA on Sunday night. Every cliche applies. Backs against the wall. One and done. But no matter how you put it … the Lakers simply need a win. Period.

I think Rivers is brilliant in this series. Jackson has way more talent to work with but Rivers seems to get the Celtics going. Rivers is brilliant how he fit this team together.
Jackson is obviously too old and without Jordan and Shaq he is just another coach. LA needs a true point guard. They need Sam and TJ.
- MilesThe biggest choke of the year by Mr MVP when his team needed him the most. What a joke with 17 points!!!
- Johnn19Eric,
I hear the rumours that the Raps are trying to buy out Garbs because of health issues but do you think they may be trying to free up more cap room to either make some trades or via free agency. If they do buy out Garbs do you think it will hurt the Raps chances of keeping Calderon?
I just pray that Brian is able to find a “Monster” for the middle………
Thanks for your time and I like listening to your show.
- Beans26As much as i dislike the hype around the Celtics. This looks great on Kobe Bryant.I wonder what he’ll B**** about this off season.
- jeffwow people you need to blame someone else besides koybe for this one gasol, odom any1 else there? yes he got 17 points but he was double or triple teamed every time he had it so what does he do pass it, open man misses the shot so koybe take it himself
- jeremyLA’s problem is they have too many very good players and only one exceptional one.
The advange teams with a big three have is they are much easier to coach. You play your three best on for 40 minutes, the rest of the team works around them and you basically say…beat my three and you beat me?
A big three may not as desirable in the regular season because depth helps in the play-offs I would rather have one Tim Duncan than two very good players.
- MilesThe great ones rise up and pull the team with them.
Kobe is a great player but not A Great One. He is not a Jordan, Kareem, Magic, Russell. He is just an amazing talent but is better left in he closet. Next year is the year of King James and Lord Paul. The only two ready and able to ascend the ladder to greatness.
- MilesI hope Bosh is watching Garnett.
Garnett is always brilliant on defence but on offense he is inconsistant. Jumpshot anyone?
Bosh attacks the rack as well as anyone except King James. I hope our new players and offence is about attacking the rack.
Van Gundy to me is an idiot. With his big three they should have to change the rims after every quarter.
Raptors have to get Nasty on offence but especially nasty on defense.
- MilesMiles is insane. Van Gundy is the best thing to happen to broadcasting since Marv Albert.
Kobe is a great one. Just not a great teammate. Can’t will his team to win on his own merit.
Smith For Swirsk in 2008. Keep basketball alive in a hockey nation.
- The KingThanks “King”
- E. SmithIf you had read what I said I was talking about his coaching. You twisted things.
Van Gundy with his front three cannot dominate the paint is a joke. Howard’s main source of points was rebounds. Lewis a brilliant athelete and driver mostly used for shooting especially threes. I think a great coach would use Howard more on offence and Lewis’s quickness more.
My point with Kobe is I think the Lakers are a better team the Boston.
- MilesKobe is much better than Pierce. Garnett is better than Gasol. Allen is better than Fisher but if you look at there rest of the team LA is much stronger and much Deeper. They are either losing because of Kobe, or Coaching because they have a ton of good players.
I think when this is over and – I assume Boston wins – Doc Rivers is probably an amazing coach. When Boston could have lost they won and they got better as the play-offs went on.
