6:00pm Eastern

After tonight’s game against the New Jersey Nets, Linton Johnson’s 10-day contract with the Raptors will expire.

Since coming to Toronto, Johnson has appeared in 2 games - averaging 3.0 points and 0.5 rebounds.

The Raps will be coming off a back-to-back after tonight’s game … thus … chances are the team will be given the day off tomorrow before returning to practice on Monday.

If that is the case - and IF Toronto chooses to re-sign Johnson to a 2nd 10-day - they could wait until that day … to make sure they have the swingman in uniform right up until the final game of the regular season … in Chicago … on April 16.  Basically, that would mean Johnson would go without a deal on Sunday … and simply ink the 2nd 10-day before practice starts on Monday.

We’ll see how things play out.

This ia an absolute joke. Why do I keep turning the game on in the 4th and seeing TJ Ford on the floor? Does Sam Mitchell have something against Jose Calderon? Eric, explain to me what in the world you think is running through Sam’s head during a basketball game. This is ludacris.

Let me see…TJ had 21 and 13 agains’t Atlanta and should have scored the game winning basket. In that game he took 2 shots in the 4th and made 1. In OT he went 3-5. Nothing wrong with that. Calderon on the other hand played a big part in Atlanta coming back in the game. Against Charlotte, TJ was shredding their defense and dropped 14 dimes in 30 mintues. He only took 6 shots and made 3. That turnover was horrible but 1 turnover does not make a game. How can you possibly keep a guy with numbers like that on the bench? In the last 3 games TJ is averaging 14 and 10 on over 50% from the floor and only 1.7 TO’s. Sorry but TJ Ford is not the problem. You should look at Bargnani, Delfino, Kapono…etc. And it’s not like Calderon has been playing well lately. All the TJ bashing is ludacris.

    lol, so standard, blame TJ.

    Last 3 games (all losses)

    TJ Ford is averaging

    28 mins
    14 pts
    .514 FG%
    10.0 assists
    2.7 turnovers

Seriously, what more were you expecting? The guy was signed to be a top 10-15 PG in the league, nothing more, nothing less. That’s exactly how he’s performing.

Hopefully he gets dealt this summer just so everyone who has him as their favourite whipping boy can find a new scapegoat. Pretty much all of the US media & Vegas pegged the Raptors as a 40-42 win team, I don’t understand why people are shocked.

Just b/c Swirsky guarantees 50 wins and getting to the 3rd round of the playoffs doesn’t mean it’s reasonable.

I wouldn’t blame Ford or Mitchell necessarily for Saturday’s loss. It seems like where we had the intensity and defense to hold teams off later in games last year, we are completely missing that this year, and it’s cost us at least a half dozen games in the last two months.

I would agree that the TJ bashing is out of control.

    Hi Eric
I didn’t see the raptors falling apart like they have and I guess nobody can say they did. The team is playing with doom hanging over there heads. Thankfully the playoffs are starting.
If we play Detroit, that could be ugly. Hoping they pull it together!

Hmmmmm. I wonder why everyone is bashing TJ? Like take a hint. Fact: Jose is a team player, TJ isn’t. Fact: We were winning with Jose, we are losing with TJ. How in the world can you justify bringing a guy off the bench who was arguably an all star in February? Like seriusly? Give your heads a shake.

Michael..you are right I don’t expect more out of TJ, I expect him to be on the bench.

and Tim…nice job reeling off those numbers for the past week, unfortunately the season is longer than a week…and plus Jose brings intangibles to the floor, he’s simply a winner if given the chance to do so.

With all that being said. I am not blaming all of our woes on the point guard situation. I think the team is soft. I think they need to watch some game tapes of the Bad Boys from Detroit, or even tapes as recent as last year’s playoff series b/w GS and Dal. I mean watch how GS plays D: You are not getting within 5 feet of the rim without being sent to the floor by at least 2 guys.

With regards to me mentioning only the last few games, I was responding to anyone blaming TJ for those losses. You are certainly right, 1 week doesn’t make a season. And saying that it’s a fact that TJ isn’t a team player is ridiculous. He wants to start and wants to win. I think our team could use more desire like that. If TJ is such a “cancer” then why do all his teamates like him? And don’t forget that Jose Calderon just might be the worst defensive PG in the NBA. Is that a guy you want out on the court in crunch time? And Calderon is a winner? So is TJ (in high school, taking his team to the final four, making the playoffs every year in the NBA). I don’t buy the argument from either side. And last point…how can you justify putting a guy on the bench who was our best player and playing like an all star in november?

are we talking about the same TJ Ford?

TJ Ford is going to be a jorneyman in the league before his career is over…just watch.

quit talking nonsense about Calderon’s D, when TJ Ford is a much worse defender. much worse.

HAHA That is not nonsense…Calderon is obviously a worse defender than TJ. Ask anyone who knows ball…even Jose fans will admit that. You just proved that you a delusional Jose backer. I’m embarrased to be a raps fan sometimes.
