ALICE IN WONDERLAND is #1 again, pulling in 62 million dollars this weekend. The Disney movie starring JOHNNY DEPP as the Mad Hatter has already grossed nearly 209 million dollars domestically, becoming the first 200 million dollar movie this year! GREEN ZONE, SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE, REMEMBER ME & SHUTTER ISLAND round out the top 5
Former “Friends” star DAVID SCHWIMMER and photographer ZOE BUCKMAN are engaged. The pair met in London in 2007 when he was directing the movie, “Run, Fatboy, Run.” For the record, he’s 43, she’s 24. It’s the first marriage for both.
PETER GRAVES, who became a huge star playing Jim Phelps on TV’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, died yesterday at his home in L.A of an apparent heart attack. Graves was the younger brother of actor James Arness, who played Marshal Matt Dillon on TV’s “Gunsmoke”.. Peter would have celebrated his 84th birthday on Thursday.
LADY GA GA has announced the 2010 North American leg of The Monster Ball Tour, and so far it looks like she won’t be coming to Calgary! We’ve heard there will be shows in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and possibly Edmonton but so far no word on a date here.
KATIE COURIC and MATT LAUER may be the friendliest competitors in television news. Photographers caught the former co workers grabbing a bite to eat and toasting to one another’s success.
KATE GOSSELIN is ready to take on the world and Dancing with the Stars. The mom of eight has built a dance studio in her basement to rehearse, got a new hairstyle and is telling everyone she’s “in it to win it”.

The Top Films of 2009 were honoured at the 82nd ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS in Los Angeles last night. The Iraq war drama “THE HURT LOCKER” cleaned up, picking up 6 awards including Best Picture and Best Director for KATHERIN BIGELOW - the first woman in Oscars history to win that award.
SANDRA BULLOCK won Best Actress for “`The Blind Side,” JEFF BRIDGES won Best Actor for “Crazy Heart,” MO’NIQUE AND CHRISTOPH WALTZ took Supporting acting Oscars for “Precious” and “Inglorious Basterds” (all four acting awards went to first-time winners)
Avatar won 3 Oscars, Precious, Crazy Heart and Up all picked up 2 each.
OPRAH takes over the Kodak Theatre today for her Annual “After” Oscar Party, guests include Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges!
Director Tim Burton’s 3-D trip down the rabbit hole drew huge crowds, as “ALICE IN THE WONDERLAND” earned 116.3 million in it’s opening weekend, pulling in 210 million worldwide. It gave Walt Disney Studios the biggest opening for a 3-D film ever - even beating AVATAR and it was also Burton’s best ever opening!!
BROOKLYN’S FINEST debute in 2nd place followed by SHUTTER ISLAND, COP OUT and AVATAR.

Now that the final Olympic gold medal has been handed out, JAY LENO will try to restore his golden reputation as the King of late night! Leno starts his second run on the “Tonight Show” Tonight. 9 months ago he was replaced by Conan O’Brien and moved to prime-time, O’Brien lasted seven month before getting the boot. Leno’s first guests will be Jamie Foxx, Brad Paisley and U.S. Olympian Lindsey Vonn. Sarah Palin & snowboarder Shaun White guest tomorrow, Avril Lavigne is the musical guest on Wednesday.
SHUTTER ISLAND starring Leonardo DiCaprio took the top spot again over the weekend, making 22 million for a two week total of 75 million dollars. Cop Out debuted in 2nd place with 18.6 million. The Crazies, Avatar & Percy Jackson and the Olympians round out the Top 5
MARIE OSMOND’s son, MICHAEL BLOSIL, committed suicide Friday night by jumping from his 8th floor apartment in Los Angeles. He was 18. Michael left a note saying he intended to commit suicide due to constant depression that left him feeling like he had no friends and could never fit in. DONNY and Marie have cancelled their Las Vegas show at the Flamingo resort and casino indefinitely.
JASON and MOLLY from “The Bachelor”, got married on Saturday TRISTA and RYAN along with several other former “Bachelors” and “Bachelorettes” were among the 300 guests. The wedding will be televised next Monday as an ABC special called “The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding.” After their honeymoon, the pair will make their home in Seattle.

Creepy crime thriller “SHUTTER ISLAND” bumped “VALENTINES DAY” from top spot at the box office pulling in 40.2 million on it’s opening weekend. AVATAR, PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF and THE WOLFMAN round out the top 5.
THE HURT LOCKER won six awards, including best picture Sunday night at the British Academy Film Awards.
Three decades after Elvis Presley took his last bow in Las Vegas - He’s back in a Cirque du Soleil show called `VIVA ELVIS.” There is dancing, acrobatics, live musicians, over the top sets and glitzy costumes with gigantic videos of Elvis.
JENNIFER HUDSON is slimming down.! Word is the Oscar winning actress has lost 56 lbs for her upcoming role as Nelson Mandela’s wife in “Winnie”. Filming starts in May.
HILARY DUFF and Edmonton Oiler MIKE COMRIE are engaged. He’s 29, she’s 22!

Valentines Day - The Movie, The Bachelor & BaBa Wa Wa

The romantic comedy VALENTINE’S DAY easily grabbed the #1 spot at the box office on Valentine’s weekend.. The cast incudes; ASHTON KUTCHER, JESSICA ALBA, JENNIFER GARNER, ANNE HATHAWAY, JULIA ROBERTS, JAMIE FOXX, QUEEN LATIFAH, JESSICA BIEL, SHIRLEY MACLAINE, TAYLOR SWIFT AND TAYLOR LAUTNER.
The action fantasy PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF opened in 2nd place followed by THE WOLFMAN. AVATAR was fourth, pulling in another 30 million dollars, bringing its domestic total to $659.6 million and it’s worldwide haul to 2.3 Billion.
KIEFER SUTHERLAND is having what’s described as a “minor elective procedure” after a cyst near his kidney ruptured last week. (I watched 24 last night and I bet it happened during the torture scene…ouch) Production has been suspended until he returns.
Last night on THE BACHELOR Jake sent Gia home leaving Tenley & Vienna to battle it out. Next week the Bachelorettes are back to “tell all”…..could be juicy!
After 30 years BARBARA WALTERS says this year’s Pre-Oscar special will be her last and she’s promising to go out with a bang as this years guest include Sandra Bullock and Monique. Walters will continue to do her “10 Most Fascinating People” and “The View”. Her final Oscar Special will air Sunday, March 7th on ABC

THE WHO rocked the Half-time show at the Superbowl. Don loved hearing & seeing Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend..me..not so much! Pete’s brother Simon was on rhythm guitar and that was Ringo Starr’s son Zack was on the drums. QUEEN LATIFAH kicked the game off with her version of “America the Beautiful” while CARRIE UNDERWOOD belted out the National Anthem.
Despite rumours of a break up, it looks like it’s “Game On” for BRANGELINA.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who have been subject to a ton of break up rumours lately, were all over each other in a private box at the Superbowl on Sunday in Miami.
AVATAR got bumped from the Number one Spot at the Box office over the weekend. Dear John pulled in 32.4 million dollars to take over the Top Spot.
Avatar, From Paris with Love, Edge of Darkness and the Tooth Fairy round out the Top 5. Valentines Day, with a huge ensemble cast that includes Jessica Alba, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, Eric Dane, Bradley Cooper & George Lopez, opens on Friday.
Two and a Half Men star, CHARLIE SHEEN is due in a Colorado Court today where he’ll be charged in connection with his Christmas arrest in Aspen, where he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife. It wasn’t a great start to the weekend for Charlie, someone stole his Mercedes SUV on Friday and crashed it off a cliff.
A new Coug is moving into Cougar Town! SHERYL CROW has signed on to play a major recurring role on the ABC comedy starring Courtney Cox. We don’t know much more other than she’ll be playing the girlfriend of Josh Hopkins character, Grayson.
Rumour that AMERICAN IDOL Producers want to replace SIMON COWELL with HOWARD STERN….that has me tuning out for sure!!!
NELLY FURTADO will play a crazed hockey fan in “Score: A Hockey Musical”.
The movie, which also stars Olivia Newton John & Marc Jordan is being filmed in Toronto and will be released in October .

Grammy Awards a runaway for the Ladies

It was Ladies Night at the 52nd ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS! BEYONCE took home a total of 6 trophies, smashing the record for the most trophies by a female artist in a single night. TAYLOR SWIFT won 4 and also performed with one of my favorite ladies, Fleetwood Mac’s STEVIE NICKS. LADY GA GA, who opened the show with an amazing duet with ELTON JOHN, won 2 including Best Dance Recording for “Poker Face”.
So many performance highlights, BEYONCE, PINK, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, BON JOVI and The MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE with Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson. WOW!
AVATAR pulled in another $30 million, making it the number one movie for the 7th week in a row. It’s also now pushed past the 2 Billion dollar mark in world wide ticket sales. EDGE OF DARKNESS, the new thriller starring Mel Gibson finished 2nd with 17.1 million. Disney’s WHEN IN ROME opened in 3rd place.
OSCAR NOMINATIONS are out tomorrow!
A blockbuster and a bomb are tied for the lead among RAZZIE Nominees for last year’s worst movies. The 400 million dollar smash “TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN” and Will Ferrell’s Box Office Dud “LAND OF THE LOST” have 7 nomination each, including worst picture.
Good News for fans of PARKS AND RECREATION, NBC has renewed it for a third season. No doubt that was also good news for the shows star, Amy Poehler.

The one day total for Friday night’s celebrity “HOPE FOR HAITI NOW” telethon is $58 million. Canada’s telethon raised 10 million. The “Hope for Haiti” album also had the biggest ever pre order on iTunes and is already the #1 seller in 18 countries.

Twilight is HUGE! Dancing with the Stars, American Music Awards

The Twilight sequel scored the 3rd biggest opening of all time earning 140.7 million dollars this weekend . The record for an opening is 158 million, set last year by “The Dark Knight”. Sandra Bullock’s “The Blind Side” opened a distant second with 34.5 million. “2012″ dropped to 3rd, “Planet 52″ and “A Christmas Carol” round out the top 5.
Last night at the American Music Awards, Taylor Swift won 5 awards including Artist Of the Year. Michael Jackson made history by winning 4 awards, giving him
23 over his career, more than any other artist. Adam Lambert has everyone talking about his over the top performance that ended the show!
Dancing with the Stars wraps up it’s 9th season this week! Kelly Osbourne, Mya and Donny Osmondwill be competing in the finale tonight. The results show airs tomorrow!

Elton John’s website reports that he is hoping to be well enough to perform in New York tonight for an Elton John Aids Foundation event. Elton was in hospital 2 weeks ago with the flu & and E.Coli infection. He had to cancel several solo appearances and concert dates with Billy Joel on the Face 2 Face Tour.
Bruce Springsteen had a “Spinal Tap Moment” on Friday, he hit the stage and said “Hello, Ohio”….in Auburn Hills, Michigan! Apparently Springsteen referred to Ohio several times until guitarist Steve Van Zandt whispered in his ear.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt left their 6 children at home on Saturday and went on a date in Los Angeles. The pair were treated to a private viewing of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new 30th Anniversary exhibition.
Two years after they split up, Rosie O’Donnell is admitting she and Kelli Carpenter are no longer a couple. Rumours have been rampant that the relationship was in trouble and now that Rosie has her new radio show on Sirius it’s going to be hard for her to avoid talking about it!
