TOYS DAZE

The TOYS FOR BOYS party is tonight (tuesday May 12) at Filthy McNasty’s. This invite only event is always filled with anticipation as almost 200 contestants hope they pick the right key to win a prize package worth over 100,000 dollars. It’s a pretty easy gig for us unless the winner is toward the end of the line of people waiting to go up. You see one year we were getting down to the wire. There were only a few people left who hadn’t tried their keys to see if they were a winner. I began looking back at our new promotions manager from the stage , giving him that “are you sure you put the winning key in the box? look” He was white as a ghost. I searched for the nearest exit. If we got to the end of the line and there was no winner I needed to be able to get off the stage and out of the building before an angry mob ripped Woody and I to pieces. And then just as I was getting a queezy feeling in the pit of my stomach, BAM!!!!! The motorcycle fired up, confetti cannons fired off and the TOYS music blasted from the speakers. Usually it’s the winner who stands around stunned , relieved , elated and almost unable to comprehend what had just happened. That year I had some of those same reactions for a different reason. Now I make sure I know where the exits are BEFORE we start the event. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
