Towards the  end of the show today (Fri Feb. 26) we noticed that Woody was wearing nail polish.  NAIL POLISH!!!!  He said it had something do with support the Women’s Gold Medal winning hockey team and beer. The photo above are the hands of Woody and his wife. Downright strange Woodman. God knows what he’ll be into if the Men go to the gold medal round.

Congrats to TEAM CANADA for the GOLD MEDAL win in Women’s Hockey.

They are in trouble for drinking beer and smoking cigars after the win.

To me…..this makes them even more cool.

 g

WHO IS THIS?

Can you identify this person?   I nearly fell off my chair when I heard the answer. Leave your guesses and I’ll let you in on the answer (with a vintage pic) soon.

gg

Great guesses folks.  That’s 71 year old Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane.

Olympic Fever in The Streets

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

(Warning: some may find use of the “f” word offensive in the video above)

I think this is an awesome video showing Canadian Olympic fans on Granville St. in Vancouver.  It’s great to see them so fired up however, I find the “F” U.S.A chant to be less than sportsmanlike.

Teachers Lap Dance Trouble

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Here’s the video you may have heard Randall mention on the news.

The kids are calling it “Two Teachers, One Chair”   Schooboard officials are not happy.

NBC Confuses Terry and Michael J. Fox

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

NBC’s TODAY SHOW mixed up Terry Fox and Michael J. Fox when talking about lighting the Olympic Flame.  Check it out:

I thought this comment on youtube was pretty funny:

According to NBC, Betty Fox must be really proud. Her son ran across Canada on one leg to raise awareness for Cancer , then grew back his leg in time to star in Family Ties

CHEZ 106 HOSERS MAKE THE GOLD MEDAL ROUND

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Holy smokes Hosers!!!!   Randall’s band of ragtag never before even met hockey players made it all the way to Gold Medal round of the Beaver Cup.  Congrats to Houle Sports on grabbing the championship cup. Hosers got SILVER!!!!!

bea

Do you know how amazing this is?   These guys played their first game on Saturday where they met each other literally 4 minutes before game time.  They went on to win that game and the next.  They finally lost in late game Friday against Houle sports. Those two wins put them in contention for the playoffs on Sunday and the rest is history.

The following is an email I recieved from CHEZ 106 HOSER Frank Nieuwkoop:

Guys let me start by saying what a awesome tournament i want to thank Chez 106.1 and beaver cup pond hockey for an excellent weekend. It was great to meet fellow hosers and an opportunity to meet people for different places throughtout the ottawa region. In talking to fellow hosers a connection was made, we knew other people  from certain areas……but my personal highlight of the weekend was Doug Palmer 83 years old who inspired me beyond belief this man should be an inspiration to fellow canadians who enjoy playing hockey. This man never missed a shift , got knocked down, blocked shots and scored goals, 83 years old ladies and gentleman he was not given any leeway from the opposition nor did he ask for it………he actually thanks us for playing on the hoser team…………you have to be kidding…………thanks us ,no thank you doug for letting us play with you, if this was it means to be a hoser then I’M as hoser for life…….. Doug the beer league has new meaning now that you have played with us there will always be a spot on our team for you ,if fellow hockey players/canadians followed Dougs philosophy they will enjoy it for a very long time. Making it to the finals was exciting as a hoser, who would think Randall could pick a bunch of guys not knowing there abilities and put them together to play as a team, just like like picking team Canada they may be great individually but may not gel as a team.

a true inspiration of why I continue to play Hockey……………..

CHEZ 106 HOSERS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

hosers

The CHEZ 106 Hosers won the first two games they played on Saturday at the Beaver Cup.  Above Captain Randall Moore and the team clean the ice after losing their 3rd game. However, with the two wins they make the playoffs and will faceoff tomorrow morning.  We’ll let you know how they do.   By the way Randall picked a great bunch of guys. They all play very well and considering they had less than 5 minutes to meet each other never mind practice they gelled instantly on the ice.  Our 83 year old player Doug is blowing everyone away setting up some great goals with some terrific and timely passes. I suspect if we had made the guys practice we could have won all 3 games.

The Beaver Cup continues Sunday at DOWS lake.

The Real Randall Moore

 shakin

Being on the inside looking out we sometimes forget about the images we create on the radio. I always get a kick out of people who say “wow, I pictured you to be 6 foot tall and blonde”. (I’m certainly not)   On the radio I’m your typical loudmouth d.j. and you all have a picture in your mind about what I’m like.  However, in reality I’m a pretty quiet  mld mannered guy who usually isn’t even noticed.   Randall’s job is to give us his opinion and ellicit some sort of reaction whether it be anger, sadness, laughter or a “you hit the nail on the head  Randall!”.  So, it’s no surprise that you might think  that he goes through life as an opinionated jerk.   Really though , he’s a good dad, a husband, a regular guy with a great sense of humour.   It appears Robert Beaudoin met the real Randall. What follows is his email to us:,
I had the pleasure of sitting beside Randall Moore at last night’s game. For those of you that do not know who Randall is follow the link bellow.  I don’t know how many times I ranted back at him over the years or even thought of him as an extreme jerk. In our minds we build a picture or better yet a likeness of what a person behind a microphone looks and acts like. (Much the same as we do in forums)  Anyway he was sitting with his lovely young daughter kinda quiet. I made a comment about the seats we were in and he opened up. Extremely knowledgeable about the game, we started to converse on many hockey topics. We spoke about our playing days and being a few years older than me he remembered playing in my home town against buddies of mine, I also found out that I coached one of his closest friend daughter.

We went on and chatted about the Senators the Flames and to my surprise even a professional consultant of mine that he knew personally. The great ending to this story is that it was not until he was about to leave that I asked him what company he worked for? He pulled his jacket towards me and showed me the CHEZ 106 logo. Upon asking him if he was a disk jockey he humbly said no not really just a sports and news guy and introduced himself as Randall Moore. I paused for a moment and shook his hand. Too bad Mr. Moore had to leave after the second period more concerned about getting the young lady to bed than watching the end of a great hockey game because I would have loved to have spend more time with him. All this to say that we are so quick to look at the negative side of people and sometimes even life in general. The short time that I spent with this gentleman was a humbling experience that this man will not soon forget.
