Not Skimpy Enough?

June 22nd, 2010 by dan

Taylor Swift is being criticized for wearing “granny panties” on the beach.  There seems to be a constant drone of complaints that Hollywood types aren’t wearing enough and now a celeb wears something a little more modest and still criticism?  What’s up with that????

What I want to do this summer!

June 21st, 2010 by jamie

Summer!  It’s here!!!!! We wait all year for this season and it seems to zip by.  There is so much I want to do in these few short months.  I want to spend many days lazing about at the beach.  I say lazing but really it’s chasing after two water babies.  I don’t mind much since I’m a bigger water baby:)  I want to go camping.  By camping I mean a tent and an air-mattress.  Dan figures camping means an uncomfortable sleep on the ground.  No thank you.  He’ll budge by letting me use an blow-up bed.  I want a tent trailer …..I’ll win eventually:)  I want to grill up some sausages from Gravelle’s.  Nothing smells more like summer than big fat sausauges on the BBQ… topped off with mustard, relish and gobbs of sourkraut and banana peppers. mmmmmm My mouth is watering!!!!  I want to go to Canada’s Wonderland and ride the rides until I feel ill.  That’s fun for me.  I want to make Sangrias and sit on the back deck all afternoon (l’ll cover myself in bug spray first).  Most of all, I want to hang with the family and enjoy the weather because it will be gone before you know it.

What do you want to do this summer?

Zumba baby!

June 18th, 2010 by jamie

I’ve recently become a certified Zumba instructor and I’m loving it.  It’s a latin dance based fitness class.  Basically it’s exercise in disguise!  However a number of people are hesitant to try it out because they say they aren’t coordinated or they can’t dance.  You don’t have to be coordinated and you don’t have to know how to dance.  You just have to move and have fun!  Listen, if a baby can do it….so can you!  Take a look at this kid!

What to get Dad?

June 17th, 2010 by jamie

I haven’t done a thing for Father’s Day! I’m working on it.  I’m going to get Dan a handy man.  Yep, a handy man.  I’m going to hire a handy man for all the projects he wants to get done but doesn’t have time for.  Now this may sound like a disguised slap in the face but it’s not.  I really want to help him out and since I don’t want to physically do the work myself, I’ll hire someone:)  Good idea or bad idea?  Any referrals?

The “buzz” is killing the World Cup

June 14th, 2010 by jamie

I can’t watch The World Cup Soccer Tournament.   Not only because I’m I don’t care, but because I can’t stand the buzz.  That buzz is coming from thousands of fans blowing Vuvuzelas.

It’s been the tradition since the ’90s in South Africa to blow the horns from the beginning of the soccer match until the end……non stop!!!

At first I thought the buzz coming from the World Cup was a bad cabel connection, then I thought it was air conditioners or some sort of machine.  Some people thought it was a swarm of bees near a microphone.  Nope.  Vuvuzelas!

Dan was so moved by the annoying horns he wrote a poem (clearly he has too much time on his hands!)

That droning plastic-trumpeting orchestraa 90 minute buzzing operetta,

That many say should be put in the trunk of an Impala and should be dealt with as in the beginning of Goodfellas .

On the pitch they can’t hear the other playa’s. In North America curious fans cry whey-ah are those sounds coming from and when will hockey return?-Dan Hunt

So do you think FIFA should have banned the Vuvuzela for The World Cup?

Why we wear red on Fridays.

June 10th, 2010 by jamie

Over the last 8 years, 147 Canadian soldiers have lost their lives in the Afghanistan mission.  The impact hit closer to home this week after the death of  Sergeant Martin Goudreault.  The Sudbury man was killed on Sunday by a roadside bomb southwest of Kandahar city.

The men and women serving overseas put their lives on the line every minute of everyday and to show our respect and appreciation, many wear red on Fridays.

For those of us with no direct connect to the Canadian Military Friday is our day.  Can you imagine the families of those in the forces?  Every minute of every day they must think, or worry about their loved ones serving in Afghanistan.  These men and women are fathers, mothers, son and daughters, brothers and sisters.  This video puts thier sacrifice into perspective.

*****get the box of Kleenex*****

Remember to wear red on Friday.

I can’t do EVERYTHING right:)

June 9th, 2010 by jamie

Do you like going to the dentist?  I do.  I’ve always had a good experience in the chair even if I’ve had to have work done, so fear doesn’t come into play.  I also love the feeling of having my teeth cleaned.  I drink coffee and wine and I eat foods that stain my teeth so a good teeth cleaning is always welcome.

However, every nine months I get a little nervous heading to my appointment.  It’s the same feeling I got in the pit of my stomach when I didn’t do my homework in school.  It’s called guilt.  Why?  I don’t floss everyday! There I said it.  I know I should.  I know it will help prevent cavities.  I know it’s sets a good example for my kids.  I know oral health is linked to overall health.  I know all of this.  But for some reason I still don’t floss everyday.

I also know there is an easy fix to avoid the guilt and the “floss talk”…..  Floss my teeth…I know!  I do so many other things right.  Should I feel guilty about not flossing everyday?

Jamie

p.s. I’m off to the dentist today.  I’ll let you know how it goes:)

Goosebump proposal!

June 7th, 2010 by jamie

“Will you marry me?” can be asked so many different ways.  You could quietly ask during a candle-lit dinner, at a picnic in the park or you ask the question in a grand fashion.  You could get down on one knee in a restaurant, you could blaze the message on the Jumbo-tron at sporting event or orchestrate a “Glee” type music number.  Check this one out.  It gave me goosebumps!

What’s the most creative wedding proposal you’ve heard of?

Bring on the balls!!!

June 4th, 2010 by jamie

Ok…I’m guilty.  I think it’s funny when people fall.  Especially on the show “Wipeout”!  You know the show I’m talking about.  The one with the big red balls! Here’s a refresher..

I was watching the season premier last week and was rolling on the floor with laughter as the contestants took some serious wipe-outs!  I turned to Dan and said “I wish I could be on this show”  Be careful what you wish for because……

“Wipeout” is coming to Canada!!!!!!  I’m totally applying!!!  Who’s in with me?? LOL

They are now accepting applications for “Wipeout” Canada until July 1st.  They are expecting to shoot in October in Argentina, where the international course is located.  I told a friend at the gym about my idea to be on the show and she said, “Jamie, you have kids!”  My response, “They have a Dad!” LOL

But seriously I have to apply.  I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m super competitive and I’m up for anything.  This show is right up my alley.

If you want to apply here’s the link.  http://www.tvtropolis.com/wipeout/application/default.html

Good Luck, but I’m going to beat you:)

She Was Fired For Looking Too Good?!

June 3rd, 2010 by dan

This is Debrahlee Lorenzana.  She was recently fired from Citibank.  The reason:  too attractive.

???

Understandably, she’s about to enter arbitration with the company which she accuses of wrongful termination.   Her bosses told her they couldn’t concentrate on their work because her appearance was too distracting.   They ordered her to stop wearing skirts, 3-inch heels and fitted business suits.  Her best friend was quoted as saying, “Men are kind of drawn to her.  I’ve seen men turn into complete idiots around her.”

There’s no mention in the story about the gender of her bosses.  Do you think they are male or female?
