Super Bowl Snacks!

February 5th, 2010 by jamie

The Super Bowl is this Sunday and let’s be honest…I don’t really care.  I don’t watch football at all.  I know New Orleans and Indianapolis are playing because I follow sports for my job and I want New Orleans to win because we’ll win the office pool!  Sing it “Oh when the Saints….go marching in…..” lol

The only reason I look forward to Super Bowl is because I like food and the Super Bowl and food go hand in hand like bread and butter!

Chicken Wings, Nachos, pizza, chili, dips…..mmmmmmmm

A U-S research company recently did a survey on Super Bowl snacks and the top food for game day really surprised me. Veggies came in at number 1!!!  Here’s the top 5 foods Amercians will eat during the Super Bowl.

1)veggies

2)potatoes

3)pop

4)salty snacks

5) sandwiches

Chili didn’t even crack the top 10!  How did that happen?!

Well in light of the shocking survey (with veggies the top Super Bowl food), here’s my favorite veggie dip.

It’s super simple and oh so yummy.

1 tub of light sour cream

1 pkg of Lipton onion soup mix

Mix together and put in the fridge to allow flavours to “hook up” LOL

This dip is also great with chips…something I’ll be eating on Super Bowl Sunday.  I’ll save the carrots for Monday:)

A peek at “Undercover Boss”

February 4th, 2010 by jamie

“Undercover Boss” is a new show that’s going to makes it’s debut after Sunday’s Superbowl game.  It’s a hidden-camera show where an executive goes undercover in his or her own company to get a raw look at how people really work.

On the first show Larry O’Donnell, the President and C.O.O. of Waste Management goes under the radar to look at his company in an up-close situation.

Here’s a sneek peek

On another note, do you think your boss could do your job?

I, thankfully, can say yes!

Grammys 2010

February 1st, 2010 by jamie

Beyonce set a Grammy record for women, winning six last night at the prestigious awards show.  Taylor Swift grabbed four Grammys, including album of the year for “Fearless.”  Those women were the night’s big winners but I can’t stop thinking about Pink’s performance.  It was the BEST performance I have EVER seen at an awards show take a look

Another highlight was the Micheal Jackson Tribute by Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Smoky Robinson

Apple unveils iPad

January 28th, 2010 by jamie

Apple’s new i-Pad — a one-button tablet computer was introduced yesterday in San Francisco — won’t be available in Canada right away.  The company says the i-Pad will be available for sale internationally in 60 days but no deals have been reached with data carriers in Canada yet. The iPad is a cross between a laptop and a smartphone and C-E-O Steve Jobs says the i-Pad offers the best of both worlds.  It will cost 499 dollars (U-S) for the basic model.

To me, it looks like a bigger iTouch.  I don’t think this is really going to take off.  If you have an iPhone or iTouch you’re good…right?  Is bigger better?

Boyz II Men!!

January 22nd, 2010 by jamie

Big thanks to the Capitol Centre for bringing Boyz II Men to the city!  It was one of the best concerts I’ve been at.  My girlfriend Josie was able to score front row centre tickets and we had such a great time.  They sang some songs from their new cd “Love” but by and large they stuck to the music that made them famous.  The crowd was on their feet and singing along to the “End of the Road”, “Mowtown Philly” and when the boys sang “I’ll Make Love to  You” they gave all the women in the front two rows long stem red roses!

Boys II Men sounded exactly the same as the did 20 years ago.  Their voices are angelic and thier harmonies are flawless.

The highlight for me was getting to meet and talk with Boys II Men. I have to admit I did get a little weak in the knees, especially when I hugged Wanya!!!!

Here’s a pic of me and the boys.

Nathan, Me, Wanya and Shawn!!!!  AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks again Capitol Centre!

Meh on Death

January 20th, 2010 by jamie

To be honest I would not be watching the new Kids in the Hall series “Death Comes to Town” if it wasn’t shot in our city.  I had the chance to watch the show last night for the first time and I didn’t really find it funny.  Sure there were funny parts, like when some police officers hid ice cream cones behind their backs until a woman safely walks by and then they resume licking:)  That was funny.  The rest is awkward at best.  The only reason I’m watching the series, is to see where they filmed.  Last night TW Foods was featured and I spotted fellow Rogers employees Jeff Turl and Kevin Oschefski.  Good job guys!

I’ve never been a big fan of Kids in the Hall humour and ”Death Comes to Town” is a reminder of why.

What do you think of the show?

The best and worst of the Golden Globes

January 18th, 2010 by jamie

The Golden Globes kicked off the award season last night.  The science-fiction blockbuster “Avatar” won best drama at the Golden Globes, and Canadian James Cameron picked up the directing honour for the film.  Sandra Bullock won dramatic-acting honours for the football tale “The Blind Side” and Jeff Bridges for the country-music story “Crazy Heart.”  The Vegas bachelor bash “The Hangover” won for best musical or comedy.
Top acting honours went to Meryl Streep from “Julie & Julia” and Robert Downey Junior for “Sherlock Holmes.”

I personally don’t really care who wins.  I care about who’s wearing what!

Jennifer Aniston was named one of the best dressed at the Golden Globes last night.
