Pick of the week: Revolutionary Road (10/10): The best movie of the week by far. One of the best movies of the past year as well. Kate Winslett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon are magnificent. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Blu-Ray of the week: Neil Young – Archives, Volume One: Highly-anticipated, often-delayed massive box set of Neil Young’s gigantic body of work. Well, the first volume thereof. Will carry a hefty price tag. Will likely be worth it.
Defiance (7/10): A solid war movie about a group of Jewish war resisters in Poland, but it smacks of Hollywood and isn’t gritty enough to be great. Some good scenes about people living with other people, but not enough character development from the stars. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Spring Breakdown: A solid cast – Amy Poehler, Parker Posey, et al – in a movie that sounds idiotic. Some thirtysomething women who have been lifelong geeks get a chance to do spring break…right.
Prison Break Season Four: This series got real silly, real fast. Which means that Season Four is likely even sillier than Season Three.
Weeds, Season Four: One of the absolute best shows on TV. Well worth it – if you haven’t seen it, rent it.
