Compared to what we saw during the winter games in 2010 it doesn’t seem like there are as many people waving their flags during the summer Olympics.
Chilliwack flag shop manager Vanessa Oddy says they’ve seen some people buying international flags but that might be just the usual tourism traffic.
“We certainly get a lot of visitors coming through from different countries through the summer time so in the summertime our international flag sales go up. Whether that’s related to they Olympics or not it’s kind of hard to say at the moment.”
Oddy says there may have been more enthusiasm for the 2010 games because they were right here in our own backyard.
