A bizarre impaired driving incident led to a man’s car being impounded in Abbotsford on Wednesday shortly after 12:30.

The 48 year old man was driving on South Fraser Way with two young boys in the car, one of which was his son, when he pulled into a left turn lane.

Rather than make the turn he parked the car and started to fall asleep.

Constable Ian MacDonald with the Abbotsford Police says the man was apparently oblivious to everything around him.

“As witnesses go to rescue the boys from this vehicle, he doesn’t pay much mind or attention to the fact that they’re removing the boys. In fact all he does is move from the front seat to the back seat where he curls up and either goes to sleep or passes out.”

Police were called and administered an alcohol screening test, which the man failed.

The two boys have been left with a relative.
