It takes a lot of dedicated volunteers to pull off a major event, and the Prospera Valley GranFondo is no different.

The 160 km mass bike ride to raise money for Special Olympics is happening July 22nd, and they need around 400 people to help out.

Media relations manager George Lacny says they want people who want to take part in a world class event.

“What we’re looking for is people who are outgoing, want to give something back and can really transfer some of that energy that they have over to the close to 1500 cyclists that will be taking part.”

Lacny says the volunteers will help out in all different areas of the event.

“From being a course martial to assisting at the aid station, where they help the cyclists fill up water bottles. Make sure that people on the course are looked after, and also the two days leading up to the GranFondo is when we have package pickup. And that’s where people will get their timing chips and all the information.”
