It’s one mistake Kathie Lee Gifford won’t soon forget, from her interview with Martin Short yesterday. She made mention of Martin’s wife, and asked how the two were doing…almost tow years after his wife had passed away. After the commercial break, Kathie Lee apologized to the camera and corrected herself. Martin Short, who handled it beautifully, made a comment today, saying “It’s live television, people make mistakes.” No hard feelings!
Adele fans – as in, most people – keep your eyes on NBC next week. Rumor has it, Matt Lauer will helm an hour-long special, including an interview, and some concert clips.
More reality-TV franchises are setting up shop in Canada. City TV will feature The Bachelor Canada this fall, and get now, get ready for Big Brother Canada on the Slice channel. The network says it’ll air in the 2012/2013 broadcast season.

The Avengers has been knocked from #1, and all it took was two secret agents with the powers of the universe at their disposal. Men in Black 3 earned $70 million this weekend. Not far behind, of course, was The Avengers with just under $50 million.
Justin Bieber is wanted by police for questioning after an altercation this weekend. A paparazzo is alleging Justin assaulted him. Witnesses say it happened after the photographer refused to get out of the way of Justin’s car. More on this one as it develops.
Simon Cowell’s developed a brilliant plan to defeat the competition for his show The X-Factor. At auditions this weekend, he and judge LA Reid were reportedly telling the bad singers to go audition for The Voice, saying they’d probably get through on that show.

It could be the end of The Avengers run at #1. Agents J and K return to theaters after more than a decade in Men in Black 3. Reprising his role alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith says this one is something special – it could be the addition of Josh Brolin as a younger Tommy Lee Jones, in a role that’s earned a lot of praise in early reviews! Also opening today, horror-thriller Chernobyl.
Season 2 of the X-Factor has begun filming, and new judge Britney Spears has been making extensive use of a condition in her $15 million contract that allows her to get up and take a break whenever she feels like it. After just four auditions yesterday, she took a few hours off. The show continued filming in her absence. Enter bonus code OOPS for 500 points.
And American Idol winner Philip Phillips revealed to Jay Leno that he had multiple procedures during the course of the season on his kidneys and there’s more to come. Here’s hoping he recovers in time for the Top 10 tour!

Judgement came down on Dancing With The Stars – Donald Driver took home the mirrorball trophy to end out what the judges called the show’s best season out of the past 14!
We’ll have a similar scene on American Idol tonight, as either Phil Phillips or Jessica Sanchez will be named the winner. While Jessica has the stronger voice, Phil stole the show with his performance of his first solo single to close out the night.
Katy Perry’s promoting her upcoming movie, and in an appearance on Ellen, revealed that we’re likely to see a hint of the marriage troubles that resulted in her divorce from Russell Brand. Katy Perry: Part of Me opens the July 4th weekend.

No surprise that the #1 movie over this long weekend was, once again, The Avengers. It pulled in another $55 million. The one shocker over the weekend was the low earnings for Battleship. The big-budget action movie, starring Rihanna (amongst others) only earned $25 million, to finish at a distant #2.
It’s anyone’s guess as to who takes home the mirrorball trophy tonight on Dancing With The Stars. Of the three remaining couples, there’s only a one-point difference. Donald & Peta and William and Cheryl both earned 59/60 for their performances last night, and Katherine and Mark scored a perfect 60/60.
And it’s down the final 2 over at American Idol. Jessica Sanchez and Phil Phillips face off tonight, with the winner announced tomorrow evening.

One brave movie is going to attempt to make any money this weekend, competing against the Avengers juggernaut. Tim Burton & Johnny Depp team up for the vampire-comedy Dark Shadows.
A bit of a surprise in the bottom two on American Idol last night. Phillip was facing elimination for the first time ever! He stayed alive for one more week, however, as Holly Cavanagh was sent home.
And there will only be one winner for this weekend’s conclusion of Canada’s Got Talent. Performances are Sunday night, and the winner is crowned on Monday. Dance team Sagkeeng’s Finest are representing Manitoba.

The rumors are put to rest! Britney Spears has signed on as the third judge for the upcoming season of the X-Factor. She’ll be sitting alongside Simon Cowell and LA Reid for a cool $15 million for one season. Still no word on whether they plan on replacing ex-host Steve Jones with another entertainer, or a cardboard cutout. Enter bonus code BRITNEY for 500 points.
American Idol’s final four faced off, with Joshua Ledet stealing the show. It could be trouble for Hollie Cavanagh when elimination comes around tonight. Her performance was the only one that got any disapproval from the judges.
Miley Cyrus might have been a bit shocked at the box office numbers for her new movie “LOL.” It got limited release at select theatres, which is probably why it pulled in only $50,000 last week. She says she’s still proud of the movie, and loved making it.

Another couple gets dropped from Dancing With The Stars tonight. Last night’s show featured a regular dance and then a trio dance. William and Cheryl took the top spot with 57 out of 60 At the bottom were Melissa & Maks with 51.
Yesterday, you heard on the Dish that the Avengers broke the record for opening week at the box office. It was reported the film made $200.3 million worldwide. It turns out that number was a little off. It was actually $207 million. Not that anyone’s counting, right?
If you’re staying in tonight, grab something new on DVD or Blu Ray. New on the shelves – get romantic with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in The Vow, or the tenth movie in the Underworld series Underworld: Awakening.

It was the biggest opening weekend for a movie – ever! Living up to –and then exceeding – expectations, The Avengers earned over $200 million internationally, destroying the $169 million mark set by the final Harry Potter movie.
There’s another name in the unending parade of music stars rumored to be a judge on the upcoming season of The X-Factor. The difference is – nobody asked her. Chaka Khan, who would admittedly be cheaper to get than Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus – has sent word to the producers that she’d be up for the role.
There’s some judge issues going on over at America’s Got Talent – a TV watchdog group – the Parents Television Council – is urging a boycott of the show, due to the addition of new head judge Howard Stern. Enter bonus code STERN for 500 points.

It wasn’t so lucky for a certain child star on last night’s Dancing With The Stars elimination round. Jaleel and Chelsea in the bottom two, and only one could be saved. Jaleel White went home.
We’re coming close to finding out the new judging lineup for X-Factor. The likely choices are between Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and newly added to the mix – teen star Demi Lovato, who’s well known from her role on the TV show ‘Sonny With a Chance,’ and between the three of them, would probably cost the least to sign for a contract.
