THE DISH: Idol Down to 5; New Movies; McHero
Friday, April 27th, 2012
American Idol sent home another hopeful last night! Holly and Elise were in the bottom two, and Elise got the boot.

A handful of new movies out today. John Cusack stars in the Gothic Thriller “The Raven,” based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe. For the kids, some claymation fun with Pirates! Jason Statham wears a suit and fires a gun…again…in Safe, and great reviews coming in for Jason Segel & Emily Blunt in The Five Year Engagement.

He doesn’t just play a lifesaver on TV – after a car flipped over multiple times just outside his home, Patrick Dempsey raced to the wreckage, crowbar in hand, and pulled the driver to safety. No serious injuries, though the car was totaled.
THE DISH: Bey-ootiful; Madonna Can’t Give Her New Album Away; Bieber’s Other Baby Song
Wednesday, April 25th, 2012
Beyonce has been named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman! She says she’s felt more beautiful than ever because she’s given birth. And probably because she dropped almost all the baby weight already. Seriously, have you seen her?

Madonna’s new album is selling okay, but apparently she can’t even give the thing away for free. Included in the extremely high ticket price for her concerts is a free download of the album, though a full 20% of ticket holders haven’t downloaded it!

And in a brilliant move of turning Bad Press into Good Press, Justin Bieber says he’s written a song about that crazy girl who said he was the father of her son.
THE DISH: Ryan Seacrest Makes a Lot of Money; The Kardashians Make Even More Money Than Ryan Seacrest; Oscar-Sweeper on DVD
Tuesday, April 24th, 2012
Amid rumors Ryan Seacrest planned on leaving the show, today Fox announced that he’s been signed on to host another two seasons, for a reported $30 million!

If you think that’s a lot of money for not much work, how about $40 for three more seasons of Keeping up With The Kardashians? That’s the deal they just signed on for today, the richest in the long, storied history of reality TV.

There’s a couple of new movies on DVD and Blu-Ray today, one of them is probably one you meant to see but didn’t. Oscar-sweeper The Artist is on the shelves, as well as action-thriller Contraband.
THE DISH: New #1; Lindsay Gets Banned; Could Matthew Perry BE Any More Getting Back on TV?
Monday, April 23rd, 2012
Hunger Games was unseated from top spot at the box office this weekend. Dropping to number 3, it was behind new releases The Lucky One, and Think Like a Man, which earned about $33 million.

Lindsay Lohan’s judgement appears to be getting better. After getting into two minor scuffles over the past week at the same club, she’s now banned herself from going. I guess it’s better press than having the club do it for you.

Matthew Perry’ heading back to TV. His new half-hour sitcom has been picked up for an initial half-season by NBC. It’s called Go On, and revolves around a sportcaster, played by Matthew Perry. Enter bonus code CHANDLER for 500 points.
THE DISH: Colton’s Out; New Movies; Top Model Shakeup
Friday, April 20th, 2012
It was the end of the road for another American Idol hopeful. Kinda-rocker Colton Dixon was sent home in what was a bit of a surprise. He’d been in the bottom three before, but had also been a fairly consistent performer. We’re down to the final 6 now.

New in theatres today, The comedy Think Like a Man, the G-Rated Chimpanzee, and Zac Efron stars in The Lucky One, based on the book by The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks.

America’s Next Top Model just cleared out their staff as if they were contestants who couldn’t get the hang of smizing! J. Alexander, Nigel Barker and Jay Manuel were all canned. Tyra Banks is about all that’s left. Enter bonus code TYRA for 500 points.
THE DISH: Goodbye, Dick Clark; Goodbye, Gavin DeGraw; Goodbye (not really) Anna Paquin.
Wednesday, April 18th, 2012
Sad news coming out this afternoon about the man they called “America’s Oldest Teenager.” Dick Clark passed away earlier today, from a heart attack. He was 82 years old.

We knew this was coming – Gavin DeGraw and Jaleel White were in the bottom two on Dancing With The Stars, and it was up to the judges to save one of them. And just like that, Clear FM’s Gavin DeGraw heads home. We’ve still got Urkel, at least.

And True Blood star Anna Paquin has revealed that she and her co-star husband Stephen Moyer have a baby on the way. The new season of True Blood premieres June 10 on HBO.
THE DISH: Gavin’s Gone? Jersey Shore Gets Trashier; Mission Impossible!
Tuesday, April 17th, 2012
I know I’ve been saying it since the beginning, but Gavin DeGraw’s time on Dancing With The Stars is probably up. He pulled in the lowest score of the night, with 19.

The Jersey Shore house is getting trashed – more than usual! The property has been defaced a number of times recently, by fans of show scrawling their names and messages to the cast on the outside walls. As of this morning, the house had a new paint job, but apparently, this has been happening almost every week.

New stuff on DVD and Blu-Ray, today! You’re not going to find anything more entertaining that Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, starring – of course – Tom Cruise.
THE DISH: Simon Cowell’s Extra Mansion; Britney’s a Good Tipper; Hunger Games Ties Avatar’s Record
Monday, April 16th, 2012
Well, if you ever want to live in a giant Hollywood mansion, here’s an easy way to do it – break up with Simon Cowell. He recently gifted his ex-fiancee with a parting gift when their relationship ended – an $8 million home in Beverley Hills. Apparently he just had it laying around doing nothing after moving into a $12 million home a few years ago.

Another star who’s generous with their money – Britney Spears tipped a waiter $100 this weekend, after he helped calm down one of her sons, who threw a fit in the restaurant.

Despite some surprisingly good reviews, and a twist ending that critics and viewers refuse to spoil for those who haven’t seen it, The Cabin in the Woods did not open at #1 this weekend. Tying Avatar’s record, The Hunger Games owned the top spot for the 4th week in a row, followed by The Three Stooges.
THE DISH: Brad & Angelina’s Engagement; Idol Save; New Movies!
Friday, April 13th, 2012
Six children and seven years later, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are engaged! Brad’s rep confirmed it today, adding that there are no wedding plans yet. The couple is referring to it simply as “a promise for the future.”

A big move on last night’s American Idol elimination round – after getting the lowest number of votes, Jessica Sanchez sang in the hopes of earning a save from the judges. Jen, Steven and Randy took to the stage, interrupted her, and gave Jessica the one and only save they’re allowed to use for the season.

New movies opening today, The Three Stooges, Lockout, and the film that’s getting good reviews – and contains a twist so big, no one’s revealing it – The Cabin in the Woods.
THE DISH: Idol, X-Factor, and the End for J-Lo and Marc
Thursday, April 12th, 2012
American Idol sends one more home tonight, it could be Hollie Cavanagh, whose performance of P!nk’s “Perfect” wasn’t a hit with the judges. Grasping for something positive to say, Steven Tyler complimented her appearance (always a bad sign).

Over at the X-Factor, it’s sounding more likely that we’ll see Britney Spears as a judge. The original offer of $10 million for one season’s work has reportedly been upped, and an announcement is expected very soon.

And it’s official – J-Lo and Marc Anthony are going from ‘separated’ to ‘divorced.’ Marc filed the papers yesterday, citing “irreconcilable differences,’ and asking for joint custody of the kids.
