A 24 year old American is in jail here in the city, where he’s waiting to be charged for bringing child porn into the country. Apparently, Ronald White arrived at the Winnipeg airport on February 14th. He was going to meet an adult woman that he’d met online. However, cops say the man’s lap was seized after a number of very disturbing pictures were found on it, including at least one that showed the sexual abuse of young children. White will appear in court March 2nd.
Well, Manitobans don’t appear to be breaking down the doors to get their hands on those new provincial ID cards. The card was launched last month, as a way for Manitobans to be able to drive over the Canada-U.S. border without a passport. The government thought about 150 thousand people would take advantage of the new cards, but so far? Only about a thousand applications have been made.
Talk about a difference between north and south ! 2 more of the country’s big banks will report their earnings today. They’ll do so on the heels of yesterday’s report by TD Bank which beat all expectations. TD said it made more than 700 million dollars in the quarter ending January 31st. That number is actually down from last year, but, well ahead of what many analysts had predicted.
