Ottawa says one Canadian is among the 143 people killed in Mumbai, India, where gunmen raided 10 sites on Wednesday.  Foreign Affairs won’t name the Canadian fatality, even though their next of kin has been notified.  2 other Canadians who injured in the attacks are okay.  One woman was treated and released from hospital.  Another man, remains in stable condition in a Mumbai hospital.
Less than 7 weeks after the last federal election, a showdown is shaping up in the House of Commons.  Monday is when the 3 opposition parties vow to vote against the Harper government’s fiscal update.  The document proposes to drop public funding for political parties, while waiting until next year for a spending package to stimulate the economy.  If by the way, the government falls, the opposition is talking about forming a governing coalition.
Well, better make sure you’ve got yourself a blue-tooth device, if you like to drive and talk.  The province, as promised has introduced a new bill which will ban people talking on hand held cell phones when driving.  It also outlaws smoking in a vehicle when kids are present.  Premier Gary Doer says they decided to go ahead with the ban, after a number of serious incidents on roadways.
There was a big police take-down in the Maples yesterday.  A bungalow was one of several properties raided by cops, as part of a long term investigation.  Now so far, police are keeping very tight lipped about what went down, or what they were looking for.  But sources say drugs and cash were some of the items seized, and several people were taken into custody.
