Police investigation into Hwy 63 crash and spill wraps up

June 28th, 2012

The police investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 63 that resulted in a formaldehyde spill into Trout Lake has concluded.  OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit has determined the collision was caused by the driver of the truck being unable to negotiate the curve on the highway.  They also determined the driver attempted to avoid entering the ditch but was unable to do so.  The unit was unable to determine whether there were any mechanical issues with the tractor trailer, due to contamination issues.  54 year old Jocelyn Lahaie, of Lavaltrie, Quebec, died of injuries he sustained in the collision.
