election talk in the air

June 15th, 2012

A political standoff over the provincial budget could send Ontarians to the polls this summer.    Premier Dalton McGuinty says he’ll call an election rather than accept opposition changes.    He’s accusing the N-D-P of reneging on a promise to pass the budget after the government accepted New Democrat demands, including
a high income surtax.    But N-D-P Leader Andrea Horwath says she told McGuinty the party
would propose amendments at the committee stage to improve the budget. Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli was asked by CKAT news about his party’s stance on the budget when it comes up for a vote next week. He says come next Wednesday every PC MPP will be voting against the budget. He says the real question will be what the NDP will do.
