City Police Make Two-Dozen Weekend Arrests
City police had a very busy weekend, responding to 250 service calls. These calls resulted in 24 arrests for a variety of offences, including assault, impaired driving, fraud and public intoxication. In one incident early Friday morning, police were called to the parking lot at Duschene Falls, where a female reported she had been robbed and a screwdriver held to her throat. The investigation quickly revealed the incident had not occurred, and a 21-year-old female has been charged with public mischief. In another incident Sunday afternoon, police were called when a man confronted two youths attempting to steal his vehicle from his driveway on Bellview Crescent. The two youths, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal justice act, were arrested, and one was later charged.
