Northern Development and Mines Minister Rick Bartolucci is opposed to lowering the provincial flag for what he calls political reasons. He’s reacting to the move made by several northern municipalities who are looking to meet with the premier about various issues — including the ONTC. Bartolucci says he’s willing to sit down with the mayors to talk about the divestment if they have potential buyers or ideas. He goes on to say the decision to divest has already been made. In terms of the flag lowering, Bartolucci says that’s for honouring someone who has died in the line of duty. He says he would hope other strategies would be used, if needed, to get the governments attention.
