Officers cleared of any wrongdoing
The S-I-U says it has concluded its probe into the death of a
56-year-old man in northeastern Ontario. The police watchdog says
there are no grounds to charge any O-P-P officer with a criminal
offense after the March 28th incident in Mattawa. The S-I-U says officers
went to a home after getting a call about a suicidal man with a weapon.
They secured the area and tried to contact the man by phone but
were unsuccessful. Hours later, officers heard a loud bang inside the home
and found the man dead in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest.
