Could The Beatles be one step closer to making their music available on I-Tunes? There is now a fully licensed Beatles I-Phone app, which is available through the I-Phone App Store. The program allows you to download lyrics and chords to more than 160 Fab Four songs.

Pete Townshend tells Billboard that The Who will play a “mash-up of stuff” during their performance at the Super Bowl half-time show February 7th in Miami. “A bit of ‘Baba O’Riley,’ a bit of ‘Pinball Wizard,’ a bit of the close of ‘Tommy,’ a bit of ‘Who Are You,’ and a bit of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ It works — it’s quite a saga. A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it — we’ve always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully, it will hit the spot.” Steve Winwood will perform during the pre-game show.

KENNY SHIELDS: A familiar voice is back!!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

“Under My Thumb”, “Here Comes the Night”, “Tin Soldier”; I’ve always appreciated how Kenny Shields was able to interpret other people’s work, and, while giving it something of a makeover, was always able to maintain the spirit of the original…it’s integrity intact!  This time Kenny has once again put his indelible stamp on a 60s classic, this one a certain “Black is Black” by title.  A Spanish band named Los Bravos cut this one back in ’66, about the time Kenny was fronting Witness Inc. KISS: Couple o’ things…

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Gene Simmons is attending this year’s NAMM Show in Anaheim, California; it’s an annual music products trade show that draws musicians and fans alike.  Gene is promoting his new AX Bass Guitar line!  Says Gene “….Even though every guitar player refers to his instrument as an axe, I actually own the trademark, and have for 28 years. And each instrument is signed, each instrument is handmade, of course, so it doesn’t go through the factory process. Quality instrument, high-end, and if you go to GeneSimmons-dot-com you’ll be able to get yours.”

KISS spent all Tuesday shooting the Dr. Pepper commercial that will premiere during the Super Bowl.  Tthe group was at it from 7 in the morning until 11 at night, but that – no surprise — they’re not allowed to say what it’s about.
