Winnipeg police say the two people found dead in a Jefferson Ave. apartment Saturday was a murder-suicide. Three out of the Winnipeg’s seven homicides this year are domestic-related incidents. There were also charges laid yesterday for another deadly domestic dispute.  23-year-old Leanne McLean was murdered on Dauphin River First Nation and her boyfriend is now charged in connection with the case.

An 84-year-old woman has died after a house fire in Brandon, Sunday. It’s believed the fire started in the basement and police do not consider it to be suspicious.

Sunday morning, Winnipeg police responded to a break and enter at a home on Polson Avenue in the North End and found three women with stab wounds. Police have made an undisclosed number of arrests, and suspects are in custody.

A 56-year-old man has been charged with careless driving causing death after a 66-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in December on Maryland Street.

A wildcat strike by disgruntled Air Canada ground crew workers came to an end Friday morning, but it wasn’t until Saturday that a group of Manitoba high school students were finally able to get on board a flight for Europe. They had been stranded at the airport in Winnipeg for 24 hours. The unauthorized strike forced Air Canada to cancel or delay dozens of flights in and out of Toronto and Montreal, which meant four Winnipeg flights were cancelled.
